Tag/Day 4.1 Post-Cruse nach der/after ARTEMIS in Calais, France

Morgens kommen wir endlich dazu aus dem Fenster zu gucken. Und wäre das Blick auf das Flußufer, den wir laut booking.com genießen???



Finally we had the next morning an occassion to see the view to the river front which was promised on booking.com.

A train arrived. We calmed down as the strike was over and service naturally resumed. So we went down for breakfast.



Ein Zug fährt ein. Beruhigt gehen wir zum Frühstück. Der Streik ist wohl vorbei.

Es ist alles da, was man für ein französisches Frühstück benötigt.

Man kann sich übrigens lt. Homepage auch das Frühstück ins Zimmer kommen lassen.



According to their website you can request for breakfast in your room.

They offered some eggs and bacon immediately. It was prepared freshly. For breakfast, you need to pay 11 EUR extra per person.



Eier und Speck wurde uns sofort angeboten. Es wurde dann frisch gemacht. Für das Frühstück sind dann nochmals 11 EUR pro Person fällig.

From outside it does not attract your attention very much.



Von draußen macht es eher einen unscheinbaren Eindruck.

Wenn man wie wir mitten in der Nacht ankommt, guckt man auch nicht so weit nach oben, um zu sehen, dass die Rezeption um die Ecke liegt.



If you arrive in the evening you usually do not take to much attention to above to read that the entrance is around the corner.

So the first impression you get was the entry to the garage.



Und man wird zunächst mit der Garageneinfahrt konfrontiert.

Ist aber zum Glück nur einen Block vom Bahnhof Calais Ville entfernt.



But it was only situated one block from the train station Calais Ville.

We used the waiting time to learn how to buy tickets (might be interesting for cruisers in the cruise ports who want to their destinations). The yellow machine for national tickets is able to communicate in foreign languages. Just touch the screen.



Wir nutzen die Wartezeit, um zu erlernen, wie man Tickets kauft (ist mehr für die Cruiser, die in den Kreuzfahrthäfen ankommen und dort weiter wollen). Die gelben Automaten für den nationalen Verkehr können auch Fremdsprachen. Einfach mal drauf drücken.

Oben steuert man die Sprachauswahl. Da die deutschsprachige Menüführung grauenhaft ist, entscheide ich mich für Englisch. - in dem Fall dann auf den "Union Jack" (britische Fahne) drücken.

And a Bienvenue is now a welcome.



Und schon wird aus Bienvenue ein Welcome.

Der gemeine Kreuzfahrer wird selten etwas am Automaten im Vorverkauf erwerben, sondern sofort fahren wollen: also "Immediate Departure". Viele wollen ja beispielsweise von Le Havre nach Paris. Ich bin aber gerade in Calais und kann daher nur nach Paris Nord. Cruiser in Le Havre müssten dann "Paris St. Lazare" drücken.



The normal cruise would not pre-book some tickets at the machine but want to go asap: "Immediate Departure". Many of you want to go from Le Havre to Paris. I am just in Calais and want to go to Paris Nord. Cruisers out of Le Havre should choose "Paris St.Lazare" instead.

All connections which are not sold out and open for bookings are displayed. In France reservation in long-distance services are mandatory so sold-out connections are not shown anymore.



Es werden dann die nächsten BUCHBAREN Verbindungen angezeigt. In Frankreich bestehen für die Fernzüge Reservierungspflicht, so dass NICHT-BUCHBARE (weil voll) Verbindungen auch nicht angezeigt werden.

Da ich ja schnell weg will, habe ich die obere der beiden angebotenen Verbindungen gedrückt und erhalte diese Verbindung in grün. Als Kreuzfahrer will man i. d. R. ja auch wieder zurück an Bord, also buche ich eine Rückfahrkarte "Return ticket".



As I want to go quickly from here I choose the first of the two next options, and it becomes green. As a cruiser, you also want to return to your ship so book a "Return Ticket".

Als Cruiser will man ja auch am gleichen Tag zurück. Also heute wäre der 20.04.2010, also auf die "20" drücken.

Danach wird die Uhrzeit abgefragt. Sagen wir mal, dass wir gegen 18.00 Uhr zurück wollen und drücken daher auf "6:00 PM"

Wieder werden die Verbindungen angezeigt, die buchbar sind und man sucht sich wieder eine aus.

Nun fragt er ab, in welcher Klasse man auf welchem Abschnitt sitzen möchte. Für den Teil in der Regionalbahn nehmen wir die 2. Klasse "2nd class".

Now the next part to Paris in the TGV Train à Grand Vitesse High-Speed-Train. And here we choose again "2nd class".

Danach kommt die Frage, ob man für die Rückfahrt den gleichen Komfort möchte. Wir sagen mal ja "Yes".

Then you are asked for the number of travelers and as we are two adults we are choosing the "2" in the left part.



Danach wird die Personenzahl abgefragt. Da wir zwei Erwachsene sind drücken wir die "2" in dem linken Teil.

Und bestätigen das rechts unten: "Confirm".

On the right side, all tariffs are shown where you need something that you are entitled to buy. On the left, all fares are shown everybody can buy. "Pro2me" for those who like to rebook and be flexible and "Loisir" for those who can fix the trains. And now for the 1st adult. We chose "Loisir" because it's a little cheaper. A later change costs 15.00 EUR per person.

"Pro2me" für denjenigen, der noch jederzeit umbuchen möchte und "Loisir" für den jenigen, der sich schon festlegen möchte. Und das für den 1. Erwachsenen. Wir geben "Loisir" an, weil es günstiger ist. Allerdings hatte uns die Nutzung eines anderen Zuges 15,00 EUR pro Person gekostet.

As we do not participate in a loyalty programme of SNCF, we say "No".



Da wir an keinem Treueprogramm der SNCF teilnehmen, verneinen wir diese Frage "No".

Es erfolgt nochmals die Zusammenfassung und mit "Pay this order" wird alles in Auftrag gegeben. Anschließend kommen noch Fragen, wie man sitzen möchte, aber dazu hätte ich meine Kreditkarte einführen müssen.

Some of you might just want to go from Cannes to Monte Carlo or from Le Havre to Rouen. Destinations which are not shown need to be found by pressing "Other destinations".



Einige wollen vielleicht auch nur nach Monte Carlo von Cannes aus oder nach Rouen von Le Havre. Ziele, die nicht voreingestellt sind gibt man wie folgt ein: "Other destinations".

Dann entsprechend eingeben.

Bis rechts die Auswahl erscheint. So wie bei uns z. B. "Lille"

The next steps are the same like before for Paris. But with the regional traffic, you can choose "Tarif normal".



Der Rest läuft so ab, wie zuvor. Nur bei der Ticketauswahl gibt es dann nur im Nahverkehr "Tarif normal".

An kleineren Bahnhöfen ohne Fernverkehr könnte es sein, dass es nur die blauen Fahrkartenautomaten für den Regionalverkehr TER gibt. Die können keine Fremdsprachen.



On smaller train stations without long distance service it could be that there are only the blue ticket machines for TER Regional Traffic. They can be only operated in French.

There are two versions available. But the operation is the same.



Die gibt es in zwei Ausführungen. Die Bedienung ist jedoch identisch.

Da startet man mit dem grünen Knopf, den man eindrückt.

Die aktuelle voreingestellte Auswahl ist immer blau unterlegt. Wir benötigen aber Fahrkarten der SNCF und daher bestätigen wir mit dem grünen Knopf "Billets SNCF..."

"Lille Flandres" ist voreingestellt. Andere nicht voreingestellte Ziele finden sich bei "Autres Destinations". Mit dem grünen Knopf bestätigen.

Then accordingly with standard fare "Billet Tarif Normal".

The pre-selection is on "Aller simple" (One-way).



Die Voreinstellung ist auf "Aller simple" (Einfache Fahrt).

Wir müssen wir nun den Ring um den grünen Knopf bewegen, um die Rückfahrkarte auszuwählen "Aller/Retour". (Retour simple wäre nur die Rückfahrt). Und mit dem grünen Knopf bestätigen.



We need to turn around the ring around the green button to choose the return ticket "Aller/Retour". (Retour simple is just the single return ticket back). And confirm with the green button.

Accordingly, you need to confirm the number of persons.



Danach muss entsprechend die Anzahl der Personen verändert werden.

Wenn die richtige Anzahl angezeigt wird, wieder mit dem grünen Knopf bestätigen.



If the right number is selected press the green botton again.

Then pay with your credit card or in cash.



Dann entweder mit Kreditkarte oder in bar bezahlen.
