Tag/Day 1.2 auf der/on BRITANNIA in Southampton, England

Unsere Taktik geht nicht auf. Wir kommen mittlerweile am Liebsten auf den letzten Drücker. Als wir ankommen, hat gerade die Einschiffung angefangen. Alles sehr verspätet. Kaum Sitzplätze verfügbar. Rieschenschlange am Getränkestand. Wir bekommen die neuen Ausflüge angeboten. Chaos, weil keiner weiß, ob es nun Gesundheitsfragebögen gibt oder nicht. Abschließend kommt raus: es gibt keine. Man wird am Schalter nach seinem Gesundheitszustand befragt. So müssen wir erst mal warten, bis zum roten Z. Dann kam erst mal grau und dann endlich blau E und danach wir.



Our strategy did not go through. Meanwhile, we loved to arrive at the last minute. When we arrived, the embarkation just started. Everything was very late. Hard to find a seat. An endless queue at the bar to buy a beverage. They offered us the new excursions. It was chaotic since none was sure if we would need a health questionnaire or not. Finally, we found out, there was not any. They would ask us at the check-in for our health condition. So we had to wait for the red Z. Then the grey followed, and then blue E came, and after that, it was us to follow.

The ship made an excellent first impression.



Im Schiff ein erster netter Eindruck.

Im Aufzug gibt es Liftboys. So hat man unter Kontrolle, dass man nicht unnötig hält und jeder schnell überall hinkommt. Es gibt einfach zuviele Idioten, die meinen, dass alles schnelles geht, wenn man alle Knöpfe beim Fahrstuhl drückt.



In the elevator they had lift boys. So you could control that the elevators would not make unnecessary stops and everyone could get fast to their destinations. You had too many idiots who thought that it would be faster when you pushed all the buttons at the lift.

Every time I saw something like that, I was wondering what they were doing at home, if they had an empty glass.



Jedes Mal, wenn ich so etwas sehe, frage ich mich allerdings, ob die zu Hause das auch so machen, wenn ihr Glas leer ist.

The first impression was great.



Der erste Eindruck ist toll.

Die Kabine ist nett und schön eingerichtet. Nur fühlen wir uns irgendwie nicht richtig "daheim", wie auf anderen Schiffen. Das liegt daran, dass wir zunächst uns einlesen müssen, was wo wie ist. Irgendwie liegt nichts auf den Betten bzw. auf dem Tisch. Kurzerhand rufe ich bei der Rezeption an. Die wiederum ruft den Deck Manager Tudash an. Und daraufhin bekommt unser Kabinensteward Rajesh einen auf den Deckel. Die SOP von P&O sieht vor, dass die Willkommen-an-Bord-Mappe aufrecht im Träger steht. Das sieht man leider nicht sofort. In Zukunft wissen wir es. Alles ein Missverständnis. Und ich kläre es auf, in dem ich alle zu mir bitte und erkläre, wie wir es auf anderen Schiffen gewohnt sind und alles ist gut.



The cabin was designed very beautiful. But we did not feel really "home" like on other ships. It was because we had to read first, what we would find where. Somehow the beds and the table appeared so empty. So I called the front desk. They called the Deck Manager Tudash. And so we brought our cabin steward Rajesh in trouble. The SOP of P&O showed to place a Welcome-on-board-folder upright in the rack. But you could not see it immediately. For the future, we would know it. Everything was a misunderstanding. And I was explaining by asking everyone to come together and how we were used from the other ships and so it was fine after that.

Our balcony was very terrible. Somehow I did not expect with a superior balcony cabin that you had extremely awful locations. I did not check the golden rule for the selection of cabin: above you, below you, left of you, right of you and opposite of you staterooms only. It was deafening on the deck above us so we could barely use the balcony. Especially NEVER AGAIN a family-friendly ship of P&O. I would come back but only on an adult-only ship.



Unser Balkon. Ganz furchtbar. Irgendwie habe ich bei einer Superior-Balkonkabine nicht damit gerechnet, dass es sie überhaupt in ganz furchtbaren Lagen gibt. Ich habe die goldene Regel bei der Kabinenauswahl nicht geprüft: über dir, unter dir, links von dir, rechts von dir und gegenüber von dir Kabinen. Es ist so laut auf dem Deck über uns, so dass wir den Balkon kaum nutzen können. Vor allem NIE WIEDER ein familienfreundliches Schiff von P&O. Ich komme wieder, aber auf einem Schiff nur für Erwachsene.

Sonst wäre es hier sehr nett.

Wir gehen kurz ins SB-Restaurant etwas essen. Ist weitestgehend in Ordnung. Leider haben sie auch auf Pepsi-Produkte umgestellt. Und so billig finde ich die Getränke gar nicht mehr, wie ich sie in Erinnerung habe.



We went to the self-service restaurant to have a quick bite. It was generally fine. Unfortunately, they changed to Pepsi-products. And I had memories that the level of the prices beverages was lower before.

Right on time at the published time, we appeared for the life drill. But nobody showed up. Later they made an announcement that it will take part more afterward. I used the chance to have a nap. But then we were fished very quickly: I appreciated it if a life drill was conducted in one language only and was finished very rapidly.



Pünktlich zur angesetzten Zeit erscheinen wir zur Seenotrettungsübung. Aber es is niemand da. Irgendwwann kommt die Ansage, dass wir alles später machen. Ich nutze die Chance ein wenig zu schlafen. Wir sind dann später doch recht zügig fertig: ich schätze es sehr, wenn eben eine Seenotrettungsübung nur in einer Sprache abgehalten wird und sehr schnell zu Ende ist.

Danach beginnt auch schon die Deckparty. Irgendwie haben wir Glück: sie dauert nicht lange, weil es immer kälter und ungemütlicher wird. Keine Turnübungen von Kindern, deren Eltern alles erlauben, was die Kinder machen. Egal, ob es andere beeinträchtigt. Nur noch ARCADIA oder ORIANA oder Saga Cruises in der Zukunft.



After that the deck party started. Somehow we had luck: it did not take too long because it became colder and more unpleasant. No more sports exercises of kids whose parents allowed everything. No matter it might impact other guests. Only ARCADIA, ORIANA or Saga Cruises in future.

Somehow it reminded all to ROYAL PRINCESS 2013. So here you could find something similar to the International Café.



Irgendwie erinnert der Aufbau an die ROYAL PRINCESS 2013. So an der Stelle des International Cafés findet sich hier auch so etwas.

Viele leckere Kleinigkeiten zum Verkauf.

Es geht zum Abendessen. Sehr nett, aber die 2-er Tische sind irgendwie viel zu eng angeordenet. Die Auswahl des Essens und das Essen selbst ist gut. Sehr viel noch mit Silver-Service. Gerade beim Käse. Ich erkläre Head Waiter Milburn, dass ich für morgen ein paar Sonderwünsche hätte. Er verspricht sie mir zu erfüllen.



We went for dinner. Very nice but the table for 2 were set too close to each other. The selection of the food and the dishes were outstanding. They had a lot to serve by silver service. Especially the way they served cheese. I told Head Waiter Milburn that I had some special requests for the next day. He promised to keep them.

I felt too tired for the Beatles Show, and I resigned.



Für die Beatles-Show fühle ich mich zu müde und verzichte darauf.
