Tag/Day 0 vor der/before EUROPA in Hamburg, Germany

Ein HeinBloed-Blog ist ja kein reiner Kreuzfahrtbericht, sondern schließt ja auch An- und Abreise und vieles mehr mit ein. So gab es kürzlich eine Diskussion, ob man nun das Kreuzfahrtterminal Altona zu Fuß vom S-Bahnhof Königstraße erreichen kann. Ich hatte nicht die Absicht zu laufen, aber direkt nach der Abfahrt des Busses 111 zum Kreuzfahrtterminal Altona, kam die Ansage, dsss der Bus bis Oktober 2014 das Kreuzfahrtterminal in dieser Fahrtrichtung nicht bedient. Der Fahrer schlug mir daher vor, an der Behnstraße auszusteigen und die Treppen runterzulaufen. Da ich mein Gepäck am Hauptbahnhof eingeschlossen und nur einen kleinen Rucksack dabei hatte, war das in Ordnung.

So we had recently a discussion if you can reach the cruise terminal Altona by walking from commuter train station Königstraße. I did not have the intention to walk but right after the departure of bus 111 to the cruise terminal they made the announcement that there will be no call of the cruise terminal for our travel direction until October 2014. So the driver suggested to get off Behnstraße and walk down the stairway. Since we locked in our bags at Central Station and we had only a small backpack with us it was ok for us.

You walk few feet backwards and you find the first advise.



Man läuft ein paar Meter zurück und findet sofort den ersten Hinweis.

Dort geht es zum S-Bahnhof Königstraße. Noch 120 m.



Here you can walk to commuter station Königstraße. About 350 feet.

You had to get down the little park. Only few steps... harmless...



Es geht in den Park runter. Nur wenige Stufen... harmlos...

Und hinter den Bäumen sieht man schon das alte England-Fährterminal.



And behind the trees you can already see the former England-Ferry Terminal.



Was für ein Glück, dass ich keine Koffer dabei hatte. Das wäre für mich nichts.



I was lucky to have no bags with me. It would not be anything for me.

Instead of a right turn I made a left turn and was looking for my hotel. But here you could easily find the reason why the bus could only go in one direction: so best ist would be to change at Landungsbrücken (Landing Stages) already to bus 111 if you need to see the cruise terminal.



Statt nach rechts biege ich links ab und suche mein Hotel. Aber hier ist auch sehr schnell die Erklärung gefunden, warum man derzeit nur in einer Richtung hierher kommt: also an den Landungsbrücken bereits zum Bus 111 umsteigen, wenn man zum Kreuzfahrtterminal Altona will.

Die Haltestelle Sandberg ist in Richtung Hafen City gesperrt.

At the intersection Carsten-Rehder-Straße/Große Elbstraße you can find my hotel.

I checked in advance that I would get a room with an unobstructed view towards the river Elbe. Therefore I need to pay a little surcharge... But what were not you do as a true shipspotter.



Im Vorfeld hatte ich geklärt, dass ich ein Zimmer bekomme, dass einen uneingeschränkten Elbblick hatte. Dafür musste ich einen kleinen Zuschlag zahlen... aber was macht man nicht alles als Shipspotter.

Die Dachterasse ist für Gäste rund um die Uhr zugänglich, also hätte ich mir den Zuschlag sparen können und ein Standardzimmer nehmen können.



The roof terrace was accessible for guests 24/7 so I could save the surcharge and could take a standard room.

Opposite you found Luther und Wegner which I knew from my Berlin era.



Gegenüber ist direkt Luther und Wegner, die ich schon aus meiner Berliner Zeit kenne.

Und vom Schreibtisch gucke ich direkt rüber zum Buchard- und Eurokai. Das Fenster lässt sich vollständig öffnen. Der perfekte Ausblick zum Shipspotten.

Something Bruno loved to have: one single double mattress...



Darüber wird sich Bruno freuen: eine einzige Doppelmatratze...

Tolle Media-Anlage. Es läuft im Hintergrund Klassik Radio. Das Programm gefällt mir und ich lasse es.



Great media devices. You had classical music in the background. I liked the program and I kept the selection.

A TV-set for living and sleeping area.

Mit den Jalousien wird es nichts, wenn ich am nächsten Morgen shipspotten will.

But you cannot look over to the Altona Cruise Terminal... And the receptionists refuse to blast the appartment tower opposite away until the next morning to see the arrival of MEIN SCHIFF 1 (former CELEBRITY GALAXY)...



Also zum Kreuzfahrtterminal Altona kann man leider nicht rübergucken... Und die von der Rezeption weigern sich den Wohnturm bis morgen früh zu sprengen, wenn MEIN SCHIFF 1 einläuft...

Echt ein toller Ort.

I was so happy that I bought some chocolate for the ladies from the front desk.



Ich bin so glücklich, dass ich zunächst einmal ein paar Pralinen für die Empfangsdamen gekauft habe.

Weil irgendwie der Bus 111 nicht kam, bin ich mit der Hafenfähre zu den Landungsbrücken gefahren... Und das ist mein Glück: sonst hätte ich gar nicht bemerkt, dass die CRYSTAL SYMPHONY im Dock 17 von Blohm und Voss liegt. Crystal Cruises habe ich auch zu meinen Einmal-im-Leben-Projekten erklärt und lasse immer zu Hause demonstrativ die Prospekte liegen, aber Bruno weigert sich energisch mein Taschengeld zu erhöhen...



Because Bus 111 did not came I used the port ferry to the Landing Stages... This was my luck: otherwise I did not notice that CRYSTAL SYMPHONY was docking in dock 17 of the Blohm and Voss Shipyard. Crystal Cruise is part of my once-in-your-lifetime project und so I let them mailing me their brochures but Bruno always refuse to increase my spent money...

I took the commuter train to get to the airport and learned there that flight supposed to arrive early but I was too fast to be happy: Bruno's flight did not arrive at 19.51 hrs and the belt of the baggage claim was out of order so it took a long time before we could finally leave.



Mit der S-Bahn fahre ich zum Flughafen und erfahre dort, dass der Flug früher da ist, aber leider zu früh gefreut: Brunos Maschine ist nicht um 19.51 Uhr gelandet und die Gepäckbandanlage ist ausgefallen, so dass es sehr lange braucht, bis dass wir endlich fahren können.

Wir gehen zur S-Bahn runter und kaufen für Bruno für 3,00 EUR (2014) ein Einzelticket am Automaten. Der Ärmste ist nach der langen Wartezeit fix und fertig. Man kommt mit der S1 zum Hauptbahnhof und kann hier zur U4 zum Kreuzfahrtterminal Hafen City fahren. Wir fahren jedoch zu den Landungsbrücken. Weil der Bus 111 gerade weg ist, nehmen wir uns schnell ein Taxi bis zum Hotel.



We went down to the commuter and bought a ticket for Bruno for 3.00 EUR (2014) at the ticket machine. After the long waiting time Bruno was done. You can get by S1-train to Central Station and change to U4 to get to the Hafen City Cruise Terminal. We went to Landing Stage (Landungsbrücken). Because Bus 111 just left we took a taxi to the hotel.

Because they had no food with Lufthansa we went around 21.30 hrs to Henssler Henssler which was only 3 minutes apart by walk.



Weil es bei Lufthansa ja nichts zu essen gab, gehen wir gegen 21.30 Uhr zu Henssler Henssler, was nur drei Minuten Fußweg entfernt liegt.

Als Walks-In haben wir auch um diese Zeit keine Chance. So wollen wir etwas mitnehmen. Ich war schon hier essen, allerdings war ich eingeladen. Als ich die Preise lese, verstehe ich sofort, warum nur American Express Karten akzeptiert bin. Sie hätten ruhig schreiben können, dass nur die Platinum-Karte akzeptiert wird... (O.K. Maestro-karte geht auch, aber kein Visa/Master Card).



As walks-in we had no chance at this time. So we decided to have some carry home. I was already dining here before but I was invited. When I noticed the prices I immediately understood why only American Express cards were accepted. They should add that they only appreciate the platinum-card... (O.K. Maestro-Card were accepted too but no Visa or MasterCard).

As we only wanted a small bite we were very surprised that was packed on one plate only...



Wir wollten bloß eine Kleinigkeit, waren aber überrascht, dass wir alles zusammen auf einem Teller eingepackt bekommen...

O.K. 31,50 EUR... Irgendwie sind wir im Odenwald andere Preise gewohnt...
