Tag/Day 5 nach der/after AIDAluna in Wolfsburg - Kassel, Germany

Wie schon auf der Hinfahrt: das Frühstücksbüffet ist sehr gut. Heute ist ein Montag. Das Büffet wirkt hochwertiger: als ob die Reste von einem Sonntagsbrunch noch angeboten werden. Vor allem freue ich mich über die Kümmelbrötchen, über den Büsumer Krabbensalat und die interessanten Jellies.



As on the outward journey: the breakfast buffet is delicious. Today is a Monday. The buffet has a higher quality: as if the leftovers from a Sunday brunch are still being offered. I am pleased about the caraway rolls, the German Büsum style shrimp salad, and the exciting jellies.

Instead of driving on the interstate, we go across the Harz Highlands. The Harz region looked better than the last time I drove through here in 2014. But on the way, you can see the consequences of heat, beetle infestation, acid rain, tornado, excessive tourism...



Statt auf der Autobahn, fahren wir quer durch den Harz. Aber unterwegs sieht man die Folgen von Hitze, von Käferbefall, vom sauren Regen, vom Tornado, vom Übertourismus... Der Harz sah auch schon mal besser aus, als ich 2014 das letzte Mal hier durchgefahren bin.

Ein kurzer Stopp, um ein wenig Strom zu tanken und eine gute Gelegenheit für eine Tasse Kaffee. Wir gehen ins Café Schnibbe in Bad Lauterberg. Ein Paradies für Torten- und Kaffeeliebhaber. Da wir sehr gut gefrühstückt haben, teilen wir uns alles: ein Stück Baumkuchen, Bad Lautertaler Blätter und die Trüffel. Der Kaffee duftet richtig klasse und als ich erfahre, dass der Kaffee hier selbst geröstet ist. Also muss ich ihn auch mal probieren. Bruno nutzt die Gelegenheit für sich zu Hause einigen mitzunehmen.

Since we had an excellent breakfast, we shared everything: a piece of Baumkuchen, Bad Lautertal leaves, and the truffles. The coffee smells great, and when I find out that the coffee is roasted here myself. So I have to try it too. Bruno takes the opportunity to take some with him at home.

At the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe in Kassel, Germany, the Schlosshotel (Palace Hotel) offers an opportunity to recharge your batteries. We use the time for a long walk through the UNESCO World Heritage. In summer, when all the water features are running, it would be even nicer. We do not run up to Hercules. It is a shame that Kassel is on the other end of the State of Hesse, where we are living.



Am Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe in Kassel bietet das Schlosshotel eine Möglichkeit Strom zu tanken. Wir nutzen die Zeit für einen längeren Spaziergang durch das UNESCO Welterbe. Im Sommer, wenn alle Wasserspiele laufen, wäre es noch schöner. Ganz hoch bis zum Herkules laufen wir nicht. Schade, dass Kassel am anderen Ende von Hessen liegt.

Das wir als Restaurantgäste des Schlosshotels kostenlos parken können, nutzen wir noch die Gelegenheit hier etwas zu essen. Ab 14:00 Uhr gibt es eine kleine Karte. Das Hotel ist sehr schön eingerichtet.



As we can park for free as restaurant guests of the Schlosshotel, we still use the opportunity to have something to eat here. A small menu selection is available from 14:00 hrs. The hotel is very nicely decorated.

We continue on the country roads to Marburg, Germany, and there we continue home through the Landscape of Wetterau via Hanau, Germany. Should we get angry now that the weather is getting better the closer we get home or the happier we are about it? We cannot turn back the time, and we cannot change the weather retrospectively either. We are just delighted about the positive impressions, and we tick off the rain under negative images.



Wir fahren weiter über die Landstraßen nach Marburg und dort geht es durch die Wetterau über Hanau weiter nach Hause. Sollen wir uns jetzt ärgern, dass das Wetter jetzt immer schöner wird, je näher wir nach Hause kommen oder uns darüber freuen. Die Zeit können wir nicht zurückdrehen und wir können das Wetter auch nachträglich nicht ändern. Wir freuen uns einfach an den positiven Eindrücken und den Regen haken wir unter negativen Eindrücken ab.

Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob die Hühner unserer Nachbarn uns oder nur die Mehlwürmer und den Salat erkannt haben. Aber sie freuen sich zumindest, dass wir da sind. Und wir freuen uns auch: wenn wir jeden Morgen duschen und im Gedanken an Bord der AIDAluna gehen: sie verwenden an Bord das gleiche Duschgel wie wir zu Hause: Hydro Basic von ADA.



I'm not sure if our neighbors' chickens recognized us or just the mealworms and the lettuce. But at least they are happy that we are there. And we are also excited: when we shower every morning and mentally go onboard the AIDAluna: you use the same shower gel on board as we do at home: Hydro Basic from ADA.

And many thanks to Sartorius and Berger! I still signed my Douglas Ward again: before the AIDAluna sails across the transatlantic. I am thrilled and another plus point for AIDA.
