Es ist nass, nass und nass. Kurz nachdem wir Göteborg verlassen, ist es zumindest trocken. Kann man AIDA wegen entgangener Urlaubsfreuden in Regress nehmen?



It's wet, wet, and wet. Shortly after we leave Gothenburg, Sweden, it is at least dry. Is it possible to take recourse against AIDA for lost holiday fun?

Dieses Mal verschwinden direkt in eine Ecke ganz weit weg und ernten dafür von den Gästen, die nach uns ins Buffalo kommen den Blick, den wir schon kennen: "Das ist unsere Ecke. Da sitzen wir sonst immer!". Im Gegensatz zu gestern, wird der Obstteller direkt doppelt bestellt und dafür einige Sachen weggelassen. Da uns erklärt wird, dass die individuelle Anpassung der vorbereiteten Tellerchen, bei entsprechendem Arbeitsaufkommen so erfolgt, dass sie vor dem Servieren schon die Sachen auf den Tellerchen wegwerfen, statt nach dem Servieren, belassen wir es dabei.

Ich hasse Frühstücken, aber mit der Art kann man mich aber tatsächlich begeistern. Eigentlich sind ja genügend Philippinos an Bord. Es müsste doch in der Crew-Galley bestimmt Congee geben. Unvergesslich: das beste Congee auf hoher See damals auf der ISLAND PRINCESS 2013 - aus der Crew-Galley.

Sogar Kümmelbraten ist mit dabei. Lecker!

Ich gehöre zu den Menschen, die auf alles vorbereitet sein wollen. Ich bin Logistiker. Ich muss die nächsten Schritte kennen und einschätzen können, wann sie einsetzen und wissen, was als nächstes folgt. Ich kann nicht einfach still sitzen und auf eine Ansage achten. Aber es wird nichts angezeigt.



I am one of those people who want to be prepared for anything. I am a logistician. I need to know the next steps and assess when they will start and what will come next. I cannot just sit still and listen to an announcement. But nothing is displayed.

I can see that we have to disembark from deck 3.

Im Bordportal, in der App, im Kabinen-TV bekomme ich nichts zu sehen. Ich bin einfach zu blöd.



I cannot see anything in the onboard portal, in the app, or the cabin TV. I am just too stupid.

And it is absolutely stupid here on the public screens: there is also an advertisement for the excursions between ads. Not on all screens, so you watch the endless loop for minutes to find out: they do not show on this screen. Some passengers ask, annoyed at the reception, but she is annoyed herself and refers to the screens that only sporadically say something. You have to have a lot of patience and time to get information "quickly".



Und hier an den öffentlichen Bildschirmen ist es total blöd: Zwischen Werbung kommt zwischendurch auch die Anzeige für die Ausflüge. Nicht an allen Bildschirmen, also guckt man minutenlang die Endlosschleife, um dann festzustellen: auf diesem Bildschirm wird es nicht gezeigt. Es gibt Passagiere, die an der Rezeption genervt nachfragen, aber die ist selbst genervt und verweist auf die Bildschrim, bei denen nur sporadisch etwas steht. Man muss sehr viel Geduld und Zeit aufbringen, um sich "schnell" zu informieren.

Ein weiteres Ärgernis: die Fahrrad- bzw. Pedelec-Touren waren online nicht buchbar. Nur an Bord. Man hat uns angeboten, dass wir noch umbuchen können. Aber nun haben wir für 12:00 Uhr schon etwas an Bord gebucht.



Another annoyance: the bike and pedelec tours could not be booked online. Only onboard. We were offered that we could still rebook. But we have already booked something on board for noon.

We are lucky, though! With the rain, I would not feel like going on a bike tour. At home, I ride an e-bike (up to 12.5 miles/hour). A pedelec would probably be too fast for me.



Wir haben aber Glück! Bei dem Regen hätte ich keine Lust auf Fahrradtouren. Zu Hause fahre ich E-Bike (bis 20 km/h). Ein Pedelec wäre mir vermutlich zu schnell.

Man darf nur im Bubble das Schiff verlassen. Ich erfahre es erst an Bord. Eigentlich wollte ich für die Crew ein paar Fotos ausdrucken lassen. Wird an Bord nicht angeboten. Daher wollte ich auf einen früheren Ausflug, um das an Land zu machen und dann mit einem Taxi zurückzufahren: durfte ich nicht. Viele andere Gäste sind empört, dass sie das Schiff ohne Ausflug nicht verlassen dürfen. Die Rezeption sagt, dass es in den Reiseunterlagen stehen würde. Ich bin zu blöd und finde es nicht. Ich habe aber von Kreuzfahrern, die mit TUI Cruises und Phonix unterwegs waren, gelesen, dass sie unabhängig von Bord durften. Ihre Schiffe haben keine italinische Flagge. Wir schon. Für uns gelten DERZEIT (Stand 02.10.2021) die gleichen Regeln, wie in Italien - so wie wir es auf der MSC SEASIDE 2021 bereits mitgemacht haben.



You can only leave the ship in the bubble. I will only find out on board. I wanted to have a few photos printed out for the crew, not offered onboard. So I wanted to go on an earlier trip to do that on land and then take a taxi back: I was not allowed. Many other guests are outraged that they are not allowed to leave the ship without an excursion. The front desk says it would be in the travel documents. I am too stupid and do not think so. However, I have read from cruisers traveling with TUI Cruises and Phonix that they were allowed to leave the ship independently. TUI Cruises does not have an Italian flag. We do. For us, at the moment (as of October 2nd, 2021), the same rules apply as in Italy - as we already did at MSC SEASIDE 2021.

Auch das Volvo Museum bleibt unerreichbar: es gibt ja keine Ausflüge hierhin und auch individuell darf man ja auch nicht hin.

Without an excursion, there is no possibility of doing a little shopping here in the shop in the Arendal Terminal. As it is the only shopping option for all guests who were outside. So if you have been able to adhere to the distance rules on your trip: not in here anymore.



Ohne Ausflug auch keine Möglichkeit hier im Laden im Arendal Terminal noch ein wenig einzukaufen. Da es die einzige Einkaufsmöglichkeit für alle Gäste sind, die draußen waren. Wer also bisher auf der Reise die Abstandsregeln einhalten konnte: hier drinnen nicht mehr.

Unser Bus. Blöd ist: die Security "behält" uns an Bord, damit wir nicht nass werden. Der Bus ist aber noch nicht soweit, aber das ist demjenigen, der sich um die Ausflüge kümmert, egal. Er lässt uns rauskommen und im Regen stehen. Am Bus bekommen wir einen Audio-Empfänger.



Our bus. It is stupid: the security "keeps" us on board, so we don't get wet. The bus is not ready yet, but whoever takes care of the excursions does not care. This person makes us come out and stand in the rain. Before we enter the bus, we get an audio receiver on the bus.

Our bus stands out because of its blue color. Our tour is in English. I tried to book a tour guide, but they wanted 400 EUR and did not offer their services to private individuals. Gothenburg is not that beautiful after all. But they probably did not know that they did not even have to provide their services for AIDA passengers.



Unser Bus fällt durch seine blaue Farbe auf. Unsere Tour läuft in Englisch. Ich hatte versucht, einen Fremdenführer zu buchen, aber die wollten dafür 400 EUR haben und wollten deren Dienste an Private gar nicht anbieten. So schön ist dann Göteborg doch nicht. Aber sie wussten wohl auch nicht, dass bei AIDA sie hätten ihre Dienste gar nicht anbieten müssen.

Es wurden nur 50% der Sitzplätze eines Busses verkauft. Man durfte nur hinten einsteigen. Wegen des Regens machten Fotos aus dem Bus keinen Sinn.

Instead of giving all travelers a window seat, they blocked rows of 2 seats. They record the seats which we take to enable contact tracing.



Statt, dass alle Reisende einen Fensterplatz bekamen, wurden 2er Sitzreihen gesperrt. Es wurde protokolliert, welche Plätze eingenommen wurden, um eine Kontaktverfolgung zu ermöglichen.

Wir haben Glück: am Götaplatsen lassen uns unsere Führerin und unser Fahrer mal ein paar Minuten die Füße vertreten und geben uns Gelegenheit Poseidon, die Konzerthalle (Heimat des Göteborger Symphonieorchesters), das Kunstmuseum, die Kunsthalle, das Stadttheater und die Stadtbibliothek zu fotografieren. Da es für schwedische Verhältnisse recht früh an einem Samstag ist, gibt es wenig Möglichkeiten mit der einheimischen Bevölkerung in Kontakt zu treten und sich zu infizieren oder auch mal schnell in einem Geschäft oder für einen Kaffee und eine Zimtschnecke zu verschwinden.



We are lucky: at Gothenburg's signature square Götaplatsen, our guide and the driver let us stretch our feet for a few minutes and photograph Poseidon, the Concert Hall (Home of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra), the Art Museum, the Art Hall, the City Theater, and the City Library. Since it is pretty early on a Saturday by Swedish standards, there are few opportunities only to get in touch with the local population and get infected or disappear quickly into a shop or for a coffee and a cinnamon roll.

I left my hiking boots and walking sticks in the car. I could have used it for the climb to the Skansen Kronan viewpoint. Fortunately, according to Swedish regulations, we can take off our masks while we are outside. Otherwise, I would need an ambulance with an oxygen tent. The descent from the Great Wall of China is worse.



Ich habe meine Wanderschuhe und Walking-Sticks im Auto gelassen. Für den Anstieg zum Aussichtspunkt Skansen Kronan hätte ich sie gut brauchen können. Zum Glück dürfen wir gemäß dem schwedischen Reglement die Masken abnehmen, während wir draußen sind. Sonst bräuchte ich wohl einen Krankenwagen mit Sauerstoffzelt. Der Abstieg von der chinesischen Mauer ist schlimmer.

Ich bin zwar nicht in Stockholm, sondern in Göteborg, aber dennoch in Schweden. Ich fühle mich wie Karlsson vom Dach nach Astrid Lindberg.

Our guide takes the time to lead us through the Haga district on the way back to the bus. In the cafés, they eat my cinnamon rolls with my cup of coffee, and I am not allowed in there! Fortunately, it has been clarified that we are permitted to leave the ship independently as recovered or vaccinated people in Split, Croatia, on MSC MAGNIFICA. Only vaccinated people are allowed on the NORWEGIAN JADE in Greece. I will catch up on all the cinnamon rolls there or just go to Ikea.



Unsere Fremdenführerin nimmt sich die Zeit uns auf dem Weg zurück zum Bus durch das Haga-Viertel zu führen. In den Cafés essen die dort meine Zimtschnecken zu meiner Tasse Kaffee und ich darf da nicht rein! Zum Glück ist geklärt: auf der MSC MAGNIFICA dürfen wir in Split als Genesene oder Geimpfte das Schiff unabhängig verlassen und auf der NORWEGIAN JADE in Griechenland sind nur Geimpfte zugelassen. Ich werde dort alle Zimtschnecken nachholen oder einfach zu Ikea fahren.

Gegen 11:15 Uhr sind wir wieder zurück. Unsere Kabine sieht wieder aus, wie in einer Musterhausausstellung. Wir sprechen den Assistent Housekeeping Manager an, dass wir von der Leistung unseres Kabinenstewards sehr begeistert sind. Hoffentlich kommen sie jetzt nicht auf die blöde Idee, den Standard zu senken oder ihn zu reglementieren, weil er so gut ist. Der Assistant Housekeeping Manager ist allerdings nicht bereit, unseren Kabinensteward an MSC und NCL zu verleihen. Unsere restlichen Espressokapseln werden gegen normale Kaffeekapseln getauscht. Das nächste Mal bringen wir noch einen Milchaufschäumer und eine Kühlbox für die Milch und Kakaopulver mit. Die Kaffeemaschine hat uns echt an Bord das Leben gerettet. Nur Zimtschnecken kann sie nicht backen!



We will be back around 11:15 hrs. Our cabin looks again like in a model house exhibition. We speak to the assistant housekeeping manager, that we are very enthusiastic about the performance of our cabin steward. Hopefully, it will not come up with the stupid idea of lowering the standard or regulating it because it is so good. However, the Assistant Housekeeping Manager is not ready to lend our cabin steward to MSC and NCL. Our remaining espresso capsules are exchanged for standard coffee capsules. Next time we will bring a milk frother and a cool box for the milk and cocoa powder. The coffee machine saved our lives on board. But it cannot bake cinnamon buns!

As on MEIN SCHIFF 2 2012, we booked the Wellness Suite again this time. And again in Gothenburg, Sweden. However, we could only get the time slot today or, interestingly, on the day of disembarkation after 09:00 hrs. The system treated us like transit guests. Four people would have been allowed to use the suite, but all four have to coordinate somehow because everything is duplicated. We were called beforehand and asked what we wanted: infusion, the sauna's temperature, bath additives, care products. I also have an antipasto platter and canapés. The fruit platter and drinks are already included. I could order some more tea. Something I cannot even start with: Rollmops (rolled Haring snack) as part of the antipasti! We should only come in our bathrobes. We can find it in our closet in the cabin. A near-miss occurs because I do not see that this is a waterbed, and with a little too much swing, I let myself fall. The almost three hours we spend here are good for us — especially the sauna and the hot whirlpool after the rain and cold in Gothenburg. With the peeling, we also feel very rejuvenated. The wellness suite is an excellent investment that pays off.



Wie damals auf der MEIN SCHIFF 2 2012 haben wir auch dieses Mal wieder die Wellness Suite gebucht. Und wieder in Göteborg. Wir konnten allerdings nur noch den Zeitslot heute bekommen oder interessanterweise am Ausschiffungstag nach 09:00 Uhr. Anscheinend hat uns das System wie Transitgäste behandelt. Man hätte die Suite zu viert nutzen dürfen, aber dann müssen alle vier sich irgendwie absprechen, weil es nur alles doppelt gibt. Wir wurden vorher angerufen und gefragt, was wir wollen: Aufguss, Temperatur der Sauna, Badezusatz, Pflegeprodukte. Zusätzlich lasse ich eine Antipastiplatte und Canapés kommen. Der Früchteteller und die Getränke sind bereits inkludiert. Ich könnte noch Tee bestellen. Womit ich gar nicht anfangen kann: Rollmops als Teil der Antipasti! Wir sollen nur im Bademantel kommen. Den finden wir in unserem Kleiderschrank in der Kabine. Zu einem Beinaheunfall kommt es, weil ich nicht sehe, dass es sich hier um ein Wasserbett handelt und mit etwas zu viel Schwung mich fallen lasse. Die knapp drei Stunden, die wir hier verbringen tun uns gut. Speziell die Sauna und das heiße Whirlpool nach dem Regen und die Kälte in Göteborg. Mit dem Peeling fühlen wir uns auch sehr verjüngt. Die Wellness-Suite ist eine schöne Investition, die sich bezahlt macht.

Wir haben Hunger. Es gibt ja keine rund um die Uhr Essmöglichkeit, wie bei NCL. Also bleibt uns nur die Best Pizza @Sea. Da wir aber gerade bei Da Michele in Hamburg vor wenigen Tagen waren, essen wir hier keine Pizza. Die "Show" ist gut... Pizza aus dem Ofen auf die Pizzaschaufel... auf den Teller... gleitet weiter... über den Tellerrand... über den Thekenrand... Platsch... auf den Boden. Sie wurde entsorgt und nicht mit Ruccola überdeckt und doch noch serviert. Aber auch hier gibt es einen "Leopold", aber hier kommt alles schon "zeitnah" (im Rahmen einer Kreuzfahrt).



We are hungry. There is no round-the-clock dining option like at NCL. So we only have the Best Pizza @Sea. But since we were at Da Michele's in Hamburg, Germany, a few days ago, we don't eat pizza here. The "show" is good... pizza out of the oven on the pizza shovel... on the plate... slides on... over the edge of the plate... over the edge of the counter... splash... on the floor. It was disposed of and not covered with arugula and yet served. But there is also a "Leopold" here, but here everything comes "on time" (relatively for a cruise).

But we only want something small: so we take Vitello Tonnato (roast veal slices in a tuna cream sauce). But it tastes just as good as if I had made it myself. We do not want to eat our fill; we just want to bridge the gap until dinner. We get a little more bread on request.



Wir wollen aber nur eine Kleinigkeit: so nehmen wir Vitello Tonnato. Schmeckt aber genauso gut, als wenn ich es selbst gemacht hätte. Ein bisschen mehr Brot bekommen wir auf Nachfrage. Wir wollen uns nicht satt essen, sondern nur bis zum Abendessen überbrücken.

Das ist jetzt echt blöd! Jetzt sind wir weg aus Göteborg und jetzt regnet es nicht mehr. Rechts vor links: Stena lässt uns den Vortritt und benutzt aber die Expressspur, während wir auf der Sammelspur bleiben. Die Schären vor Stockholm, wie wir sie auf der NORWEGIAN GETAWAY 2017 erlebt haben, sind schon spannender.

As we experienced them at NORWEGIAN GETAWAY 2017, the archipelago of Stockholm, Sweden, is more exciting.

I have a hot chocolate. I was positively surprised: they handed me in a reusable Starbucks cup.

We are at the Rossini Alternative Dining Venue tonight. On the way there, two "cap pensioners" (older German cruise passengers who are always complaining and wearing a cap - but the ladies today without a sliding cap) stand out in the stairwell. At the beginning of the voyage, there were instruction labels in all elevators that permitted a maximum of three people or six people in a household. Now obviously, the rule no longer applies. Has the incidence onboard dropped so far that everyone is now allowed to cuddle in the elevator? Back to the cap pensioners. Because an elevator stops that is already full, they do not get on. But they start calling the elevator again before the full elevator starts. When I tell them in my usual "charmingly annoyed" way that they should wait until the elevator is gone before they push again, I am insulted by them as outrageous. They know they should not do that, but they do it anyway. Since they do not want to wait here with me any longer, they walk up the stairs. Good this way! So we get to the next elevator and greet you later on deck 11. In another case, a cap pensioner walks right in the middle of the stairs and tells me that he can feel my breath on his neck. It is good that he can feel my aerosols. Then hopefully, he will be kind enough to take a step to the side so I can get past him. He thinks that he has to slow down. I guess I should cough and sneeze now. I am not that nasty after all. Let us see how I will be in ten years. But to be honest: I overlooked a lot more negative guests. Mini cruises and then from a German port with a German audience are perhaps not that representative. Nevertheless, the first personal impression was enough to say: It is not that bad at all. Because of the confirmation of my niece, we have the suits with us anyway. And for me, it is part of it when the cook and the waiters in the restaurant make a special effort; then we show that we appreciate their efforts. The other guests do not see it that way: we are overdressed even at Rossini. For less than 40 EUR, I get a 6-course menu! 40 EUR!!! An excellent investment: in Frankfurt, Germany, I would have to pay an estimated at least 100 EUR for the service. We experience not only fantastic food but also first-class service. They are adorable: Bruno does not want the 6-course menu and takes a 3-course menu. He does not wish to have ox cheeks either. This is how he gets truffle noodles. Like back then in Tuscany before the trip on NORWEGIAN JADE 2014 (1). I am told that a set menu suggestion is only offered for two days. However, I should not worry about getting the same menu twice. Otherwise, the chef would provide a surprise menu if I came several times. The lobster is a little too salty for my taste. I missed the salt here in the Buffalo before. This applies to both the salt in the lobster and the lava salt that is on the table. Bruno also gets a sorbet course. It is excellent! In the end, I choose the cheese course. But the sweet dessert looks just as good.



Wir sind heute Abend im Rossini. Auf dem Weg dahin fallen zwei "Kappenrentnerinnen" (allerdings ohne Schiebemütze) im Treppenhaus auf. Am Anfang der Reise gab es in allen Fahrstühle noch Hinweise, dass man die Fahrstühle mit max. 3 Personen bzw. 6. Personen eines Hausstandes, benutzen darf. Nun offensichtlich gilt die Regel nicht mehr. Ist die Inzidenz an Bord so weit runter, dass jetzt alle im Fahrstuhl kuscheln dürfen? Zurück zu den Kappenrentnerinnen. Weil ein Fahrstuhl hält, der schon voll ist, steigen sie nicht ein. Sie fangen aber an wieder den Fahrstuhl zu rufen, bevor der volle Fahrstuhl losfährt. Als ich in meiner gewohnt "charmant-genervten" Art denen sage, dass sie doch bitte warten mögen, bis dass der Fahrstuhl weg ist, bevor sie wieder drücken, werde ich von denen als unverschämt beschimpft. Sie wüssten, dass man das nicht macht, aber trotzdem machen sie es. Da sie nicht länger mit mir hier warten wollen, gehen sie zu Fuß die Treppen. Gut so! So bekommen wir den nächsten Fahrstuhl und begrüßen sie später auf Deck 11. In einem anderen Fall geht ein Kappenrentner genau in der Mitte der Treppe und meint zu mir, dass er schon meinen Atem in seinem Nacken spürt. Das ist gut so, dass er meine Aerosole spürt. Dann wird er hoffentlich so freundlich sein, eben einen Schritt zur Seite zu treten, damit ich an ihm vorbei kann. Er meint, dass er immer langsamer werden muss. Ich meine, dass ich jetzt mal husten und niesen sollte. So fies bin ich dann doch nicht. Mal gucken, wie ich in zehn Jahren werde. Aber ganz ehrlich: sehr viel mehr negative Gäste sind mir nicht aufgefallen. Mini-Kreuzfahrten und dann noch aus einem deutschen Hafen mit deutschem Publikum sind vielleicht auch nicht so repräsentativ. Trotzdem hat der erste eigene Eindruck gereicht, um sagen zu können: so schlimm ist es gar nicht. Wegen der Konfirmation meiner Nichte, haben wir die Anzüge eh dabei. Und für mich gehört es dazu, wenn der Koch und die Kellner im Restaurant eine besondere Mühe geben, dann zeigen wir es auch, dass wir deren Mühe würdigen. Das sehen die anderen Gäste nicht so: wir sind selbst im Rossini overdressed. Für nicht einmal 40 EUR bekomme ich ein 6-Gang-Menü! 40 EUR!!! Ein super Investition: in Frankfurt müsste ich geschätzt mindestens 100 EUR für die Leistung bezahlen. Wir erleben nicht nur erklassiges Essen, sondern einen erstklassigen Service. Sie sind sehr nett: Bruno möchte das 6-Gang-Menü nicht und nimmt ein 3-Gang-Menü. Auch will er keine Ochsenbäckchen. So bekommt er Trüffelnudeln. Wie damals in der Toskana vor der Reise auf der NORWEGIAN JADE 2014 (1). Mir wird erklärt, dass ein festgelegter Menüvorschlag nur zwei Tage angeboten wird. Ich sollten mir jedoch keine Sorgen machen, dass man zwei Mal das gleiche Menü bekäme. Man würde sonst ein Überraschungsmenü anbieten, wenn ich mehrmals käme. Der Hummer ist für meinen Geschmack etwas zu salzig. Das Salz hier fehlte mir zuvor im Buffalo. Das gilt sowohl für das Salz im Hummer als auch das Lavasalz, das auf den Tisch steht. Bruno bekommt auch einen Sorbetgang. Der Gang ist sehr gut! Ich entscheide mich am Schluss für den Käsegang. Aber das süße Dessert sieht genauso gut aus.

Im Bella Vista hätte es auch ein tolles Abendessen gegeben: rosa gebratenes Rinderfilet.

Auch heute ist wieder Sarah Barelly. Auch heute weit aus weniger musikalisch, als der Titel verspricht: "Die Liebe ist ein seltsames Spiel". Es läuft genauso derb weiter, wie es gestern aufgehört hat. Gesungen wird nur sehr wenig.



Today is Sarah Barelly again. It continues just as roughly as it stopped yesterday. Even today, it is far less musical than the title promises: "Die Liebe ist ein seltsames Spiel" (Love is a strange Game or "Everybody's Somebody's Fool"). Very little is sung.

The show ends musically as it did with Mary and Gordy: "So leb dein Leben" (So live your life - "My Way" - the American cover version of the French original "Comme d'habitude"). However, back then, I saw Mary and Gordy live on stage in Berlin, Germany. That stays in the heart and the head forever. I am sorry that I am disappointed with this version. In a different environment with many other gays ashore, I could have enjoyed the performance better. But this show just does not fit to the ship for me.



Die Show endet muskalisch wie damals bei Mary und Gordy: "So leb dein Leben" ("My Way" - die amerikanische Coverversion des französischen Originals "Comme d'habitude"). Allerdings ich habe damals Mary und Gordy im damaligen Theater am Kurfürstendamm in Berlin live erlebt. Das bleibt für immer im Herzen und im Kopf. Es tut mir leid, dass mich diese Version enttäuscht. Ich glaube in einem anderem Umfeld mit vielen anderen Schwulen an Land, hätte ich wohl die Aufführung besser genießen können. Aber die Show passt für mich einfach nicht auf das Schiff.
