Tage/Day 0.C/D auf dem Weg zur/on the way to AIDAluna in Wolfsburg - Bispringen - Undeloh - Hamburg - Kiel, Germany

Von Wolfsburg nach Hamburg durch die Lüneburger Heide. In Bispingen machen wir einen kurzen Halt. Hier sehen wir das erste Heidekraut und stoßen auf dem Heidschnuckenweg.



From Wolfsburg to Hamburg, Germany through the Lüneburg Heath (South of Hamburg). We make a short stop in Bispingen, Germany. Here we see the first heather and come across the "Heidschnuckenweg" (Heath sheep trail).

We opt for the "Schmucke Witwe" (Beautiful Widdow) after unfortunately the restaurant with the best schnitzel in the heath is closed today. The cake here is unbeatable, but the tarte flambée, the only hearty offer, is unfortunately inedible for my taste. After living right on the Alsatian border for four years, I am a bit more demanding here. I read the label on the mineral water with astonishment: The Auburg Source advertise with Erasmus of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. I do not like the water. Even if the water made me as bright as he did. We have an appointment to have dinner in Hamburg in the evening. So it does not matter.



Wir entscheiden uns für die Schmucke Witwe, nachdem leider das Restaurant, das mit dem besten Schnitzel der Heide ausgerechnet heute seinen Ruhetag hat. Der Kuchen hier ist unschlagbar gut, allerdings der Flammkuchen als einziges herzhafte Angebot leider für meinen Geschmack ungenießbar. Nach dem ich ja nun vier Jahre direkt an der elsäßischen Grenze gewohnt habe, bin ich hier etwas anspruchsvoller. Mit Verwunderung lese ich mir das Etikett des Mineralwassers durch: Die Auberg Quelle wirbt mit Erasmus von Rotterdam. Mir schmeckt das Wasser nur nicht. Auch wenn ich dadurch so schlau werden sollte, wie er. Wir sind abends in Hamburg zum Essen verabredet. Also spielt das keine Rolle.

Wir fahren ein paar Kilometer weiter nach Undeloh. Hier hätten wir erwartet, dass wir bestimmt verhungern würden. Aber der Ort ist touristisch so gut erschlossen: eines wird man hier keinesfalls: verhungern. Hier besuchen wir zunächst das Heide-Erlebniszentrum und informieren uns über die Entstehung der Heide. Später trinken wir noch etwas: sie haben ihr Angebot sehr regional aufgestellt. Produkte internationaler Getränkegroßkonzerne finden wir eher selten hier. Irgendwann müssen wir nochmals im August hierher kommen, wenn die Heide blüht. Die Dame vom HeideBulli, die Touren anbietet ist aber ehrlich genug, uns zu sagen, dass nur noch sehr wenige Stellen blühen. So heben wir uns die Tour mit ihr für ein anderes Mal auf.



We drive a few miles to Undeloh, Germany. Here we would have expected that we would starve to death. But the place is so well developed for tourism: there is one thing you will not be able to do here: die. Here we first visit the Heath Adventure Center and learn more about how the heath came into being. We will have a drink later: they have set up their menu very regionally. We rarely find products from large international beverage groups here. At some point, we have to come back here in August when the heather is in bloom. The lady from "HeideBulli" (Heath Volkswagen T1), who offers tours, is honest enough to tell us that very few spots are still in bloom. So we will save the term with her for another time.

My hiking boots are always in the car. Do we still have an hour left: Hamburg an hour earlier in the hotel or an hour hike? We decided to go hiking and get an idea of how beautiful it would have looked a month ago.



Meine Wanderschuhe sind immer im Auto. Wir hätten eine Stunde noch Zeit: also Hamburg eine Stunde früher im Hotel oder eine Stunde wandern? Wir entscheiden uns für das Wandern und bekommen eine Vorstellung, wie schön es vor einem Monat noch ausgesehen hätte.

Es ist einfach schön hier: auch wenn man in Hamburg einen Landgang hätte. Das andere Ende des Heidschnuckenwegs ist in der Flottbeker Heide: im sündlichen Teil von Hamburg.

We stay at the Holiday Inn at the Berliner Tor (Berlin Gate - a central public transport hub at the edge of the City Center). There is a charging station right in front of the hotel, but there is free electricity in the underground car park if you park here (and pay for it).



Wir übernachten im Holiday Inn am Berliner Tor. Hier gibt es direkt eine Ladesäule vor dem Hotel, aber in der Tiefgarage gibt es kostenlos Strom, wenn man hier parkt (und dafür bezahlt).

Die Tiefgarage befindet sich jedoch um die Straßenecke rechts herum.



However, the underground car park is around the corner to the right.

The location is a little unfortunate for people traveling by public transport. It is not really easy to get to the Subway or Commuter trains at Berliner Tor. It is also not easy to get to one of the cruise terminals in Hamburg. The rooms are OK. There is a possibility to make coffee in the room, but unfortunately, nothing to stir. But I always have some disposable cutlery with me. And my elite status counts very little here. I am not welcomed as such, and I only get my later check-out on request. I prefer to be offered something than to have to ask.



Die Lage ist etwas unglücklich für Leute, die mit öffentlichen Verkehr anreisen. Man kommt nicht so richtig einfach zur U-/S-Bahn am Berliner Tor. Auch kommt man nicht gut zu einem der Kreuzfahrtterminals in Hamburg. Die Zimmer sind in Ordnung. Es gibt eine Möglichkeit Kaffee im Zimmer zu machen, aber leider nichts zum Umrühren. Aber ich habe immer etwas Einwegbesteck dabei. Und mein Elite-Status zählt hier nur sehr wenig. Weder werde ich als solcher begrüßt, und meinen späteren Check-Out bekomme ich auch erst auf Anfrage. Ich mag es ja lieber, wenn ich etwas angeboten bekomme, als wenn ich nachfragen muss.

NORWEGIAN GEM 2009, ALLURE OF THE SEAS 2015 in Naples, Italy, after MSC SEAVIEW 2018 in Milan, Italy, and before MSC SEASIDE 2021 in Rome, Italy: A visit to Da Michele's newest branch is a must: in Hamburg-Altona. Unfortunately, there is no fried pizza here, but the Margherita pizza is just as good as the original in Naples. In our Hamburg office, I had previously told you that Da Michele's pizza is something different from a simple pizza. I now have to prove that this is true. We order everything "Chinese", so "Famiglia" style, have it placed in the middle and try our way through. In Naples, Italy, there are only Margherita and Marinara. They also have great antipasti (starters) and dolci (desserts). They are currently only open in the evenings. Only parties of eight people and above are accepted for reservations. A lovely evening lies behind us.

Leider gibt es hier keine frittierte Pizza, aber zumindest die Pizza Margherita ist genauso gut, wie im Original in Neapel. Ich hatte zuvor in unserem Hamburger Büro erzählt, dass eben Pizza von Da Michele etwas anderes ist, als eine einfache Pizza. Da muss ich jetzt den Beweis antreten, dass das stimmt. Wir bestellen alles "chinesisch", also "Famiglia"-Style und lassen es in die Mitte stellen und wir probieren uns durch. In Neapel gibt es nur Margherita und Marinara. Hier gibt es auch tolle Antipasti und Dolci. Sie haben derzeit nur abends offen. Reservierungen werden erst ab acht Personen angenommen. Ein sehr schöner Abend liegt hinter uns.

Am nächsten Morgen wollen wir nicht im Hotel frühstücken und gehen lieber ins Alex im Alterpavillon am Jungfernstieg. Auf den ersten Blick sieht das Frühstücksbüffet sehr schön aus. Es ist sehr reichhaltig, aber auf den zweiten Blick merkt man: mehr Schein als Sein. Aber für den Preis sollte man seine Ansprüche nicht zu hoch schrauben. Man sitzt hier sehr schön und sie haben sehr freundliches Personal.



The following day we do not want to have breakfast in the hotel and prefer to go to Alex in the old pavillion at the river Alster on Jungfernstieg. At first glance, the breakfast buffet looks very lovely. It is prosperous, but at second glance, you notice more appearance than reality. But for the price, you should not set your standards too high. You sit very nicely here, and they have pleasant staff.

It is a shame that there is not enough time for a tour of the Alster. It's STILL such a beautiful day.

Zum Mittagessen treffen wir uns mit meinem Chef Joachim (war schon vor mehr als 25 Jahren mein Chef) und Sigi, die ja schon oft mit uns unterwegs war, um letzte Absprachen für unsere nächste Reise zu treffen. For lunch, we met my supervisor Joachim (who was my supervisor more than 25 years ago) and Sigi, who has often been with us to make final arrangements for our next trip. I was looking for a Sleep+Park+Cruise offer for Kiel, Germany, again. Last time we stayed at the Steigenberger before MEIN SCHIFF 2 2012. But this time, they are just outrageous. The Maritim Hotel insists that I call them. But I get a good offer from the Hotel Kieler Förde (Kiel Fjords). It is not very central, but it doesn't matter to us since a transfer is included.



Ich hatte für Kiel wieder ein Sleep+Park+Cruise-Angebot gesucht. Letztes Mal hatten wir vor der MEIN SCHIFF 2 2012 im Steigenberger übernachtet. Aber die sind dieses Mal nur unverschämt. Das Maritim besteht darauf, dass ich sie anrufe. Aber vom Hotel Kieler Förde bekomme ich ein gutes Angebot. Liegt nicht sehr zentral, aber da ja ein Transfer mit inkludiert ist, kann es uns ja egal sein.

Für die Reise wurde für das Parken vom Hafen Kiel 84,00 EUR verlangt und wir hätten um die Ecke am Flughafen parken müssen und anschließend wären wir mit dem Bus transferiert worden. Daher ist das ein sehr attraktives Angebot inklusive Frühstück.

The transfer itself is very well organized. The following day we find out: it depends on the driver's mood how well the execution then is. Only if you have to go to the Ostuferhafen (Eastern banks of the fjord) is there a surcharge of 25.00 EUR.



Der Transfer ist an sich sehr gut organisiert. Am nächsten Morgen stellen wir fest: es hängt von der Laune des Fahrers ab, wie gut dann die Ausführung ist. Nur wenn man in den Ostuferhafen muss, kommt noch ein Aufschlag von 25,00 EUR darauf.

Mit der Zuteilung des Zimmers haben wir sehr viel Glück: zum Zeitpunkt der Anfrage hätte gar kein Zimmer mit Fördeblick frei sein sollen, aber wir bekommen doch eines. Und sogar ein sehr schönes. Einziger Nachteil: im 2. Stock ohne Fahrstuhl. Das nächste bereiten wir uns dann im Hotel vorher vor, dass wir nur noch mit kleinem Gepäck hochmüssen. Hier haben wir jedoch die große Umpackaktion: was kann im Auto bleiben und was geht mit an Bord.



We are fortunate with the room allocation: at the time of the request, no room with a view of the fjord should have been free, but we get one. And even a lovely one. However, we have an extensive repackaging campaign: what can stay in the car and what goes on board.

The address is Prieser Strand (Pries Beach). That does not mean there is beach access, however, but I am thrilled, given the weather forecast, to take photos from my room.



Die Anschrift lautet Prieser Strand. Das bedeutet jedoch nicht, dass es auch Strandzugang gibt, aber ich bin sehr froh, angesichts der Wettervorhersage, dass ich vom Zimmer aus fotografieren kann.

Ansonsten erfüllt das Zimmer alle Voraussetzungen, die ich brauche um glücklich zu sein: Getrennte Betten und alles sauber.

Unfortunately, there are no charging facilities for e-cars in the hotel. About one mile away, we take the opportunity to have dinner and charge the car simultaneously. There aren't many alternatives. We opt for the Chau Chinese restaurant. The wonton soup is ok, but I have eaten better ones. But there is a little too much oil in the dishes. I am not too fond of buffet restaurants, but this is very old-fashioned. Especially for a location outside the city center, I find it quite expensive for the performance. We are the only guests. Who also expects real German white cabbage in the Chinese restaurant? They do not even have Chinese cabbage there or at least a concession to the "Krauts".



Im Hotel gibt es leider keine Lademöglichkeiten für E-Autos. Etwa 1,5 km entfernt, nutzen wir die Möglichkeit zum Abendessen und gleichzeitig das Auto aufzuladen. Viele Alternativen gibt es nicht. Wir entscheiden uns für das China-Restaurant Chau. Die Wan-Tan-Suppe ist ok, aber ich habe schon bessere gegessen. Aber da ist doch etwas zuviel Öl in den Gerichten drin. Ich mag zwar keine Büffetrestaurants aber das hier ist doch sehr altbacken. Vor allem für eine Lage außerhalb der Innenstadt, finde ich es recht teuer für die Leistung. Wir sind die einzigen Gäste. Wer rechnet auch mit echtem deutschen Weißkohl im China-Restaurant. Nicht einmal China-Kohl haben sie da, oder doch ein Zugeständnis an die "Krauts".

Die Ankunft der AIDAluna wurde auf den heutigen Abend vorgezogen, damit man so den Sturm umgeht. Allerdings genau um 23:15 Uhr fährt sie bei uns vorbei und genau um 23:15 Uhr fängt es an zu regnen und windig zu werden: entweder mit geschlossenem Fenster und der Fokus auf das Fensterglas oder mit geöffnetem Fenster und alles fliegt durch die Gegend im Zimmer und Fokus auf die Regentropfen. Trotz schöner Zimmerlage: es gelingt nur ein schlechtes Bild. Schade: man kann im Leben nicht alles haben! Das Schiff hätte nur 5 Minuten früher kommen müssen. Schuld sind immer die anderen!
