Tag/Day 3 auf der/on VALIANT LADY in Zeebrugge, Belgium

In der Nacht begegnet uns die ENCHANTED PRINCESS.

The air conditioning constantly changes its performance during the night: sometimes it is too cold and sometimes too warm. "My Little Red Book" fits Manfred Mann's The Red Book from "What's new, Pussycat?". One thing I like: shower doors that open in two directions. Because I feel like I'm on an AIDA ship, I'm wearing my AIDA polo shirt from the AIDAluna 2021 today. My Douglas Ward is back. Since none was published in 2021, there is no entry from VALIANT LADY. Without further ado, I ask that the captain sign at SCARLET LADY. She was berthing next to us during our MSC SEASIDE 2021 trip in Genoa, Italy. We weren't allowed to sail at the time as they only offered staycation to UK residents.



Die Klimaanlage ändert ständig im Laufe der Nacht ihre Leistung: mal ist sie zu kalt und mal zu warm. "My Little Red Book" passend zum The Red Book von Manfred Mann damals aus "Was gibt es neues, Pussycat?". Eine Sache, die mir sehr gut gefällt: Duschtüren, die in zwei Richtungen zu öffnen sind. Weil ich mich eigentlich wie auf einem AIDA-Schiff fühle, trage ich heute mein AIDA-Polo Shirt von der AIDAluna 2021. Mein Douglas Ward ist zurück. Da 2021 keiner erschienen ist, gibt es keinen Eintrag von VALIANT LADY. Kurzerhand bitte ich darum, dass der Kapitän bei der SCARLET LADY signiert. Sie lag ja damals während unserer MSC SEASIDE 2021-Reise in Genua neben uns. Damals durften wir nicht mitfahren, weil nur Staycation für Gäste mit Wohnsitz in Großbritannien angeboten wurde.

Mit der Einfahrt in Zeebrugge erlebe ich von unserm Balkon wieder einen wunderschönen Sonnenaufgang.



When we entered Zeebrugge, Belgium, I experienced a beautiful sunrise from our balcony.

Bruno liked the fruit selection at Bento Baby. Since we're supposed to have noodle soup for breakfast, I agree that we'll have breakfast in The Galley today. Unfortunately, not all food outlets are open at the same time. Noodle soup is only available from 08:00. Bruno gets his berries, and I have some pancakes to bridge the gap. Very tasty: the firm mozzarella that Bruno orders. At 08:00 hrs, they finally take the order for the noodle soup. We are sitting within sight of the noodle bar. Nothing happens there. The chef doesn't put on noodle soup. It's not immediately obvious: Bruno already has everything, and I'm still missing the noodle soup. At some point, I was upset. Then three come straight away and ask if something is still missing, and they find out that the receipt printer at the noodle bar is defective. Someone from the IT department will be coming to fix it soon. The noodle soup is prepared so quickly that the noodles would probably have been too solid even for Italians. The soup is good, and the meat ration is reminiscent of "Best friend - women eat differently". I order second helpings and get some more meat: but it's cut so wafer-thin that I could read the newspaper through it. I ask again for a bowl of noodle soup without noodles. After that, I'm finally full. I'm sorry, I can't relate to the service concept. At AIDAluna 2021, we avoided it by having breakfast in the steakhouse in the morning and paying extra for it. But this option is not available on board. You can ruin my day if nothing works at breakfast in the morning. You have to say: on REGAL PRINCESS 2022 and before that on QUEEN MARY 2 2022 and NORWEGIAN JADE 2021: they made my favorite breakfast (congee), and I had it every morning, and I was the happiest passenger on board. But since they are already overwhelmed with the lactose-free milk, I prefer not to ask whether they can fulfill any other special requests. Yesterday it wasn't even possible to get the burger without fries.



Bruno gefiel die Obstauswahl bei Bento Baby. Da es zum Frühstück auch Nudelsuppe geben soll, bin ich einverstanden, dass wir heute in The Galley frühstücken. Leider haben nicht alle Essensausgaben gleichzeitig auf. Nudelsuppe gibt es erst ab 08:00 Uhr. Bruno holt sich seine Beeren und ich nehme zur Überbrückung ein paar Pfannkuchen. Sehr lecker: der feste Mozzarella, den Bruno bestellt. Um 08:00 Uhr nehmen sie die Bestellung der Nudelsuppe endlich entgegen. Wir sitzen in Sichtweite der Nudelbar. Dort passiert nichts. Der Koch setzt keine Nudelsuppe auf. Es fällt nicht direkt auf: Bruno hat schon alles und mir fehlt immer noch die Nudelsuppe. Irgendwann platzt mir der Kragen. Danach kommen direkt drei, die nachfragen, ob noch etwas fehlt und sie stellen fest, dass der Bondrucker an der Nudelbar defekt ist. Da kommt bald einer von der IT-Abteilung, der ihn repariert. Die Nudelsuppe wird so schnell zubereitet, dass die Nudeln selbst für Italiener vermutlich zu hart gewesen wären. Die Suppe ist gut und die Fleischration erinnert wieder an "Beste Freundin - Frauen essen anders". Ich bestelle Nachschlag und bekomme noch etwas Fleisch: das ist aber so hauchdünn geschnitten, dass ich dadurch die Zeitung lesen könnte. Ich bitte nochmals um eine Schale Nudelsuppe ohne Nudeln. Danach bin ich dann endlich satt. Es tut mir leid, ich kann mit dem Servicekonzept nichts anfangen. Auf der AIDAluna 2021 konnten wir es noch umgehen, in dem wir morgens im Steakhouse gefrühstückt haben und dafür extra bezahlt haben. Aber diese Option gibt es an Bord nicht. Mir kann man schon den Tag verderben, wenn morgens beim Frühstück nichts klappt. Da muss man sagen: auf der REGAL PRINCESS 2022 und zuvor auf der QUEEN MARY 2 2022 und NORWEGIAN JADE 2021: sie haben mein Lieblingsfrühstück gemacht (Congee) und das gab es für mich jeden Morgen und ich war der glücklichste Passagier an Bord. Aber da sie schon mit der laktosefreien Milch überfordert sind, frage ich lieber nicht nach, ob sie weitere Sonderwünsche erfüllen können. Gestern war es ja nicht mal möglich den Burger ohne Pommes Frites zu bekommen.

wir kommen an. Dort ist das Cruise Terminal. Da müssen wir später hin. Sehr ärgerlich: es regnet und darf nicht unter dem kleinen Zelt vor der steilen Gangway warten. Der Mitarbeiter von der Sicherheit meint, dass wir außerhalb warten sollen. Es sei kein Regen sondern nur Spritzwasser vom Schiff. Wir haben erst alle anderen von Bord gehen lassen, bevor wir gehen. Daher haben wir den Shuttle für uns alleine. Später sehen wir die Schlange, die wieder an Bord will. Aber sie haben Glück, dass es nicht regnet. Zu unserer Überraschung: bisher hatten wir hier immer einen kostenlosen Shuttle nach Blankenberge. Hier jedoch nicht. Die Kosten für die Ausflüge habe ich Gegensatz zu den Reisen auf der QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 2007, VENTURA 2008, ARTEMIS 2010 und QUEEN ELIZABETH 2018. Dort gab es den Shuttle zum Ausgang und auch immer den kostenlosen Shuttle zum Bahnhof Blankenberge. Von dort konnte man den Zug nach Brügge nehmen. Man kann aber vor dem Cruise Terminal den Cruise Express nach Brügge fahren. Sehr viel günstiger als der Schiffsausflug. Nur 20,00 EUR (2021) für die Fahrt und 49,00 EUR (2021) für die Fahrt udn eine Stadtführung. Für 55,00 EUR kommt man mit dem Taxi nach Brügge. Der P&J Schokoladen Outlet Pop-Up gegenüber vom Cruise Terminal öffnet auch später, aber wir haben soviel Schokolade zu Hause.



We arrive. There is the cruise terminal. We have to go there later. It's very annoying: it's raining, and I can't wait under the small tent in front of the steep gangway. The security guy tells us to wait outside. It's not rain, just splashing water from the ship. We let everyone else disembark before we go. So we have the shuttle to ourselves. Later we see the snake that wants to get back on board. But they're lucky it's not raining. To our surprise, we have always had a free shuttle to Blankenberge, Belgium. But not here. The costs for the excursions are relatively high, in contrast to our voyages on QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 2007, VENTURA 2008, ARTEMIS 2010, and QUEEN ELIZABETH 2018. The shuttle to the exit and always the free shuttle to Blankenberge train station. From there you could take the train to Bruges, Belgium. But you can take the Cruise Express to Bruges in front of the Cruise Terminal. Much cheaper than the boat trip. Only 20.00 EUR (2021) for the ride and 49.00 EUR (2021) for the ride and a guided tour. You can take a taxi to Bruges for 55.00 EUR (2021). The P&J Chocolate Outlet Pop-Up across from the Cruise Terminal also opens later, but we have so much chocolate at home.

I want to go to my favorite photo spot on the bascule bridge, but it's being renovated. At least the observation platform is there.

Schöne Bilder gibt es hier nie. Dieses Mal hat niemand die Polizei gerufen, wie damals auf der QUEEN ELIZABETH 2018, als man mich für einen Spion hielt und meine Personalien überprüfen ließ.



There are never any nice pictures here. Nobody called the police that time as they did on QUEEN ELIZABETH 2018 when they thought I was a spy and had my ID checked.

We walk along the tram. After 5-8 minutes, we reach the church, and in front of it is the tram stop of the coastal tram. We also get day tickets on Sundays in the Spar market, but we just want to buy some lactose-free milk and chocolate. On NORWEGIAN JADE 2021, they would probably have retaken my milk because you are not allowed to take the rest of the water in a plastic bottle with you, but there was also lactose-free milk there.



Wir laufen entlang der Straßenbahn. Nach 5-8 Minuten erreichen wir die Kirche. Davor ist die Straßenbahnhaltestelle der Küstentram. In dem Spar-Markt bekommen wir am Sonntag auch Tageskarten, aber wir wollen bloß etwas laktosefreie Milche und Schokolade kaufen. Auf der NORWEGIAN JADE 2021 hätte man mir vermutlich die Milch wieder abgenommen, weil man dort nicht mal einen Rest Wasser in einer Plastikflasche mitnehmen darf, aber dort gab es ja auch laktosefreie Milch.

Damals als wir mit der QUEEN ELIZABETH 2018 hier waren, haben wir das Dachrestaurant Njord entdeckt. Von hier kann man sehr schön das Schiff fotografieren. Wir haben einen Tisch bestellt und genießen das Essen. Die Kroketten als Vorspeise waren schon klasse. Aber meine Königin Pastete ist der Traum. Der Besuch hat sich gelohnt. Es lohnt sich bestimmt auch Oesterput zu besuchen. Auf dem Weg zur MARCO POLO 2019 waren wir hier. Da wären wir auch wieder gerne hingefahren, aber von dort aus kann man das Schiff nicht fotografieren.



We discovered the roof restaurant Njord when we were here on QUEEN ELIZABETH 2018. From here you can take very nice pictures of the ship. We booked a table and enjoyed the food. The croquettes as a starter were excellent. But my Vol au Vent (Puff Pastry filled with Cream of Chicken Pot) is Heaven on Earth. The visit was worth it, and it is worth visiting Oesterput. We were here on the way to MARCO POLO 2019. We would have liked to go there again, but you can't photograph the ship from there.

Lauren gets the soy milk back and my lactose-free milk: finally, a cappuccino. Bruno wants to go to the gym, so I sit here a little longer, and suddenly I'm approached by Andy The Charmer, who's happy that I'm there and knows my name. I forgot that I registered for an event: it tells where the term Scarlet Nights come from. The story lasts only a few minutes, and so Andy starts showing some magic tricks because he is the onboard magician. He asks me how I like it, and I openly admit that I still don't know whether to hate it or love it. You could tell that here on board, you're used to being loved by everyone straight away, and such a reaction from me is probably somewhat unusual.



Lauren bekommt die Sojamilch zurück und meine laktosefreie Milch: endlich ein Cappuccino. Bruno will ins Fitnessstudio und so sitze ich noch ein bisschen länger hier und werde auf einmal von Andy The Charmer angesprochen, der sich darüber freut, dass ich da bin und meinen Namen kennt. Ich habe völlig vergessen, dass ich mich zu einer Veranstaltung angemeldet habe: es wird erzählt, woher der Begriff Scarlet Nights kommt. Die Geschichte dauert nur wenige Minuten und so fängt Andy an, ein paar Zauberstücke zu zeigen, weil der eigentlich der Bordmagier ist. Er erkundigt sich bei mir, wie ich es finde und ich gebe offen zu, dass ich noch nicht weiß, ob ich es hassen oder lieben soll. Man merkte schon, dass man wohl hier an Bord gewohnt ist, sofort von allen geliebt zu werden und so eine Reaktion von mir ist wohl eher ungewöhnlich.

Während ich bei Lufthansa gewohnt bin, dass der Check-in offiziell 23 Stunden vor Abflug beginnt, aber mit dem Einchecken der ersten Anschlussreisende, die ihren Langstreckenflug im Ausland antreten, sowieso geöffnet wird. Aber bei British Airways geht es erst nach dem Countdown.



While at Lufthansa, I'm used to the fact that check-in officially begins 23 hours before departure but is opened anyway when the first connecting travelers who start their long-haul flight abroad check-in. But with British Airways, it's only after the countdown.

A gives no disembarkation information at a glance. When I asked, they told me: why they didn't just take a look at the app. The app is not mature yet. The app says that we have to put our luggage outside the door by 22:00 hrs: no indication whether there are new luggage tags or whether you keep the old ones. At the beginning of the trip, it would be necessary to rip it off and throw it away immediately after receiving the luggage. The red book says midnight! It also doesn't correctly show what the breakfast options are like. When we ask at the reservations desk, they say the Razzle Dazzle is fully booked for breakfast, and we can go to The Ward for breakfast. The fact that there are disembarkation times that you can choose yourself should perhaps be published earlier to book the right train or flight quickly. 10:45 hrs would have been the last disembarkation time. Now we have the explanation why you can only embark so late.



Ein gibt keine Ausschiffungsinformationen aus einem Blick. Auf Nachfrage sagt man mir: warum gucke ich nicht einfach in die App. Nun die App ist noch nicht ausgereift. In der App steht, dass wir bis 22:00 Uhr das Gepäck vor die Tür stellen müssen: kein Hinweis, ob es neue Gepäckanhänger gibt oder man die alten behält. Wäre am Anfang der Reise wichtig, bevor man sie sofort nach Erhalt des Gepäcks abreißt und wegwirft. In dem roten Buch steht Mitternacht! Auch wird nicht verfünftig angezeigt, wie nun die Frühstücksoptionen sind. Als wir an der Reservierungstheke fragen, heißt es, dass das Razzle Dazzle zum Frühstück ausgebucht sei und wir im The Ward frühstücken gehen können. Dass es Ausschiffungszeiten gibt, die man selbst aussuchen kann, sollte man vielleicht früher veröffentlichen, damit man einfach den passenden Zug oder Flug buchen kann. 10:45 Uhr wäre die letzte Ausschiffungszeit gewesen. Nun haben wir die Erklärung, warum man auch so spät erst einschiffen kann.

We're lucky: we still get places in Duel Reality. And someone behind the scenes seems to have rescheduled our reservation at The Wake for dinner. So we can go to the show. They will check whether you have a reservation. Inside, the guests are divided into a red and blue group, and accordingly, you are placed in opposite stands. When the door is closed, we are told: that you can't leave the show until the end of the event. We're trapped, and it's way too loud: we'll bring earplugs next time. Later we see that if we had entered the theater from the upper deck, we could have left the theater at any time. About the show: a special kind of duel between blue and red. But also Romeo and Juliet. A show that I don't really like, and if I had known beforehand: I probably wouldn't have gone in. However, upon exiting the show, I admit that it's one of the best shows I've seen on a ship. The show's message is beautiful during the Ukraine conflict: stop fighting; there are too many casualties. Become one! Al Pacino and Ellen Barkin in the 1989 film "Sea of Love" - where the song "Sea of Love" by Phil Phillips was played whenever the murderer killed someone. I haven't been able to listen to music since then. But here it is part of the fantastic show. And so the song is rehabilitated again.



Wir haben Glück: wir bekommen noch Plätze in Duel Reality. Und jemand hat wohl im Hintergrund unsere Reservierung in The Wake zum Abendessen etwas verschoben. Daher können wir in die Show. Es wird kontrolliert, ob man eine Reservierung hat. Drinnen werden die Gäste in eine rote und blaue Gruppe geteilt und dementsprechend wird man in gegenüberliegende Tribünen platziert. Als die Tür zu ist, teilt man uns mit: man darf erst mit Ende Veranstaltung die Show wieder verlassen. Wir sind gefangen und es ist viel zu laut: das nächste Mal bringen wir Ohropax mit. Später sehen wir: hätten wir das Theater über das obere Deck betreten, hätten wir auch das Theater jederzeit verlassen können. Zu der Show: ein Duell besonderer Art zwischen Blau und Rot. Aber auch Romeo und Julia. Eigentlich eine Show, die ich eigentlich nicht mag und wenn ich es vorher gewusst hätte: ich wäre vermutlich nicht reingegangen. Als ich jedoch die Show wieder verlasse, muss ich eingestehen, dass es eine der besten Shows ist, die ich auf einem Schiff gesehen habe. Während des Ukraine-Konfliktes ist die Botschaft der Show schön: hört mit dem Kämpfen auf, es gibt zuviele Opfer. Werdet eins! Al Pacino und Ellen Barkin in dem Film "Sea of Love - Melodie des Todes" aus dem Jahr 1989 - dort wurde immer das Lied "Sea of Love" von Phil Phillips wurde immer gespielt, wenn jemand umgebracht wurde. Ich konnte daher seit dem das Lied nicht mehr hören. Aber hier ist es Teil der fantastischen Show. Und so wird das Lied wieder rehabilitiert.

Winnie hat den schwierigsten Job an Bord. Sie ist Raubtierbändigerin, die immer die Treppe rauf und runter laufen muss, um die Gäste den freien Tischen zuzuteilen. Jetzt entdecken wir 80% der Karte kennen wir bereits vom Brunch. Ein Teil der Gerichte gibt es nur abends. Die Tische stehen verhältnismäßig eng aneinander. So kommt man leicht in Kontakt. So kommen wir mit Lisa und Steve ins Gespräch und tauschen uns aus. Sie genießen das Essen genauso wie wir. Der Serviettenring ist mir als Verlobungsring zu groß. Also lassen wir ihn da. Bei Brot im Kochtopf? Das müssen wir vielleicht auch mal zu Hause probieren, wenn unser neuer Backofen kommt. Zu unserer Überraschung: ohne Zuzahlung bekommt Bruno seinen Fisch in Salzkruste am Tisch angerichtet. Dafür nehmen die anderen Geld extra. Die Baked Alaska ist doch etwas enttäuschend ohne ZDF-Traumschiff-Musik von James Last und ohne Kellner Parade mit Feuerwerk. Ich freue mich nochmals Don Habets zu sehen, der mit uns von Bord geht um seinen Urlaub anzutreten. Er lädt uns ein, ihn wieder auf der RESILIENT LADY zu besuchen, die er zum Laufen bringen soll. Wir hatten sie ja vor kurzem in Genua aus dem Zug gesehen, als wir mit der REGAL PRINCESS 2022 unterwegs waren. Wir sind leider so schnell vorbeigefahren, dass es davon keine Bilder gibt.



Winnie has the most challenging job on board. She is a predator tamer who always has to run up and down the stairs to allocate the guests to the free tables. Now we discover 80% of the menu we already know from brunch. Some of the dishes are only available in the evening. The tables are relatively close together. It's easy to get in touch. This is how we get into conversation with Lisa and Steve and exchange ideas. They enjoy the food as much as we do. The napkin ring is too big for me as an engagement ring. So let's leave him there. With bread in the saucepan? We might have to try that at home when our new oven arrives. To our surprise: Bruno gets his salt-crusted fish served at the table without paying anything extra. The others charge extra for this. Baked Alaska is disappointing without James Last's music (at the end of every German Love Boat version: ZDF Traumschiff) and a waiter's parade with fireworks. I look forward to seeing Don Habets again disembarking with us to start his vacation. He invites us to revisit him on the RESILIENT LADY, which he is supposed to do work. We recently saw her on the train in Genoa, Italy, when we traveled with the REGAL PRINCESS 2022. Unfortunately, we passed so quickly that there were no pictures of it.

The Slam Allen Blues Band at The Manor. I originally booked tickets at home for this, but they disappeared from the app. At least for me. With Bruno, she was still there. Access to The Manor is fascinating. Everyone takes selfies in the lighted tunnel. In terms of hardware, Virgin did a great job. I still find a place where nobody controls access. There is no service in my corner. A good opportunity has five minutes to disappear again, after which the spark did not jump over. I have to be caught with the first bars to stay. It's just too late for that, and I'm too tired.



The Slam Allen Blues Band in The Manor. Ursprünglich hatte dafür auch Karten zu Hause gebucht, aber sie verschwanden von der App. Zumindest bei mir. Bei Bruno war sie immer noch da. Der Zugang zu The Manor ist faszinierend. Alle machen Selfies in dem beleuchteten Tunnel. Hardwaremäßig hat Virgin wirklich geklotzt statt gekleckert. Ich find noch einen Platz, wobei niemand den Zugang kontrolliert. Es gibt in meiner Ecke keine Bedienung. Gute Gelegenheit hat fünf Minuten wieder zu verschwinden, nach dem der Funke nicht übersprang. Ich muss mit den ersten Takten eingefangen werden, damit ich bleibe. Hierfür ist es einfach zu spät und ich zu müde.

Wir sind froh, dass die Reise zu Ende ist. Es hängt ja von der App alles ab: Bruno steht angeblich immer noch an der Rezeption und wartet und wartet. Dabei ist er längst fertig. Die Ortung läuft auch nicht. Die App bekommt nicht mit, dass er gar nicht mehr an der Rezeption ist. Er bekommt die Shows angezeigt, die in Miami laufen. Und ich bekam seit Instellation der App, dass ich einen Fehler im Check-In hätte: mein Bild würde fehlen. Wie oft habe mein Bild wiederholt hochgeladen, damit ich Ruhe habe. Es hat nichts genützt. Es wurde doch wieder ein Bild von mir am Check-In gemacht. Aber irgendwie ist mein Bild nie auf der App zu sehen. Mangels Support: ich habe schon öfters die App gelöscht und wieder neu heruntergeladen. Die Medaillon App von Princess lief auch nicht vernünftig, als wir auf der REGAL PRINCESS 2022 waren, aber hier gab es immer eine Hintertür, damit wir alles auf dem Desktop eingeben konnten. Nur hier geht es nicht.



We are glad that the journey is over. It all depends on the app: Bruno is supposedly still standing at the reception, waiting and waiting. He's long since finished. The location doesn't work either. The app does not notice that he is no longer at the reception. He gets the shows that are on in Miami. And since installing the app, I got that I had an error at check-in: my picture was missing. How many times have I repeatedly uploaded my image to have peace of mind? It was no use. The check-in agent took another photo of me at check-in. But somehow, my picture never shows up on the app. Lack of support: I have often deleted the app and downloaded it again. Princess' medallion app didn't work correctly either when we were at REGAL PRINCESS 2022, but there was always a back door here so we could type everything on the desktop. It just doesn't work here.

So that was the "support". The IT Team gave up the 1st access, and so, unfortunately, I cannot use my 3rd access myself because the IT department did not solve the problems with the 1st access.



Das war also der "Support". Man hat den 1. Zugang aufgegeben und so kann ich leider meinen 3. Zugang nicht selbst nutzen, weil die Probleme des 1. Zugangs nicht von der IT-Abteilung gelöst wurde.

01:30 Uhr nachts und ich habe Hunger. Die App zeigt an, dass zwei Orte noch geöffnet haben. The Dock soll aufhaben. Aber dort finde ich nichts, was geöffnet hat. Tagsüber lümmeln, chillen, relaxen hier in allen Ecken während Matthew Lennox auf der kleinen Bühne spielt. Auch draußen ist tagsüber viel los. Nur zu Essen gibt es hier anscheinend nichts: es ist immer geschlossen, wenn ich hier vorbeikomme.

EIn paar Bilder von meinen Runden auf den Außendecks. Nachts finde ich das Schiff extrem sexy, weil es anders beleuchtet ist, als alle anderen Schiffe, die ich bisher kenne. Tagsüber sieht man erst: Es gibt eben viele kleinere Wohlfühlecken statt eines großen Riesendecks. Sogar außen findet man Wasserspender.

But I can always find one. The scales installed on the wall are striking. But what is shown here? Is that a measure of length? The housekeeping in the hotel part doesn't exist anymore from midday, so it looks more like an American motel because the dishes aren't picked up here for many hours. Reference is already made to the fourth ship in the fleet: BRILLIANT LADY, but unfortunately nowhere to Virgin Voyages JLo's new brand ambassador - Jennifer Lopez. She should be active in entertainment. The Den reminds me of the painting studio at MEIN SCHIFF 2 2012. It somehow seems like a children's area. Later, a crew member confirmed that if the business model for adults only does not catch on, they can install the children's site here. I spot an M room in the middle. There are none in our area; therefore, there is only our room on the A and the Z side of our site. Very nice: the details of the floors. And here on board: an area of ​​the decks closed off for quarantine purposes. The elevators are fascinating. The door to the IT department is also magnetic: should I knock and tell them my opinion?

Deswegen läuft es wohl nicht so, wie man sich das vorgestellt hat. Rauhfaser bekommt hier eine ganz andere Bedeutung. Die Wand aus Rauhbeton findet Bruno ganz schön scharf. Er weigert sich ein zweites Mal die Wand anzufassen. Er möchte keinesfalls mal dagegengeschubst werden. Bruno erzählt, dass es wohl auch Herrentoiletten ohne Urinale gibt, wie damals bei der MSC MUSICA 2007. Aber ich finde immer welche. Es fallen die Maßstäbe auf, die an der Wand installiert sind. Aber was wird hier eigentlich anzeigt? Ist das ein Längenmaß? Das Housekeeping im Hotelteil existiert ab mittags nicht mehr, deswegen wirkt es mehr wie ein amerikanisches Motel, weil hier das Geschirr über viele Stunden nicht abgeholt wird. Es wird bereits auf das vierte Schiff der Flotte hingewiesen: BRILLIANT LADY, aber leider nirgendst auf die neue Markenbotschafterin von Virgin Voyages JLo - Jennifer Lopez. Sie soll in Sachen Unterhaltung aktiv werden. The Den erinnert mich sehr an das Malatelier auf der damaligen MEIN SCHIFF 2 2012. Irgenwie wirkt es jedoch an einen Kinderbereich. Mir wird später tatsächlich bestätigt: für den Fall der Fälle, dass sich das Geschäftsmodell nur für Erwachsene nicht durchsetzt, kann hier der Kinderbereich eingebaut werden. Ich entdecke eine M-Zimmer in der Mitte. In unserem Bereich gibt es keine: daher gibt es in unserem Bereich nur unser Zimmer auf der A- und der Z-Seite. Sehr schön: die Angaben der Stockwerke. Und auch hier an Bord: ein Bereich der Decks gesperrt für Quarantänezwecke. Die Fahrstühle sind faszinierend. Auch die Tür zur IT-Abteilung fasziniert: soll ich hier mal anklopfen und denen meine Meinung sagen?

Ich gucke mir in Ruhe mal die Produkte des "Sponsors" meines neuen Hoodies an. Nun aber von unten.

An object that could be fixed to the wall and doesn't take up any more space there. According to Marinetraffic, we probably drive off Devon. There is no map on the TV. It's probably just a matter of forgetting where we are. Before we leave the cabin, we do our testing before we endanger other passengers.



Sehr enttäuschend: die Auswahl der Fernsehprogramme. Es gibt noch ein paar Filme. Mit Tablett steuert man noch Klimaanlage und Vorhänge. Die öffnen sich von selbst, wenn man das Zimmer wieder betritt. Wir können über das Tablett auch immer wieder Wasser anfordern. Aber sie stellen es nie direkt in den Kühlschrank. Auch über das Tablett können wir selbst Techniker selbst angefordern usw. usw. - also die Frage: prüft eigentlich auch das Housekeeping etwas und fordert Hilfe an? Eher nein, aber das fällt erst am letzten Tag auf. Die elektronische Anzeige ob man seine Ruhe haben will oder Housekeeping will, ist ganz praktisch. Für den Tagessatz finde ich es schon enttäuschend, dass man seine Körperlotion selbst mitbringen muss. Es gibt eh schon wenig Stauraum, so ist der Fön im Kleiderschrank schon sehr nervig. Ein Gegenstand, den man an der Wand fixieren könnte und dort keinen weiteren Platz wegnimmt. Lt. Marinetraffic fahren wir wohl vor Devon. Es gibt keine Karte auf dem Fernseher. Wahrscheinlich soll man einfach vergessen, wo wir sind. Wir machen unsere Tests bevor wir die Kabine verlassen, bevor wir andere Mitreisende gefährden.

Ein paar Überraschungen: z. B. ein Hoteldirektor in Shorts. Ich falle fast rückwärts um, als Don Habets aus dem Fahrstuhl steigt. Ich glaube, wenn er so auf der KONINGSDAM 2016 herumgelaufen wäre: Das wäre das Ende von Holland America gewesen. Und heute trage ich das Orange Party Shirt. Es gibt absolut keine laktosefreie Milch an Bord. Ich bekomme welche in die Kabine, aber eben Sojamilch. Interessant ist es, wie es geliefert wird. Aber Cappuccino mit Sojamilch schmeckt widerlich. Intelligentsia - macht mich der Kaffee intelligent? So muss ich halt eine Großproduktion mit selbstgebrühtem Eistee starten.

That's where the shuffle puck table is: I'm surprised that they're allowed to continue playing there during the life drill. Others shut down operations so that you can concentrate fully on the safety instructions.

Eigentlich wollte ich nicht hierher: Razzle-Dazzle. Vegetarian-Forward. Ich bin nun mal der Fleischesser. In das SB-Restaurant wollte ich nicht. In der App stehen jetzt zwei Angebote für tagsüber, die ich von zu Hause nicht buchen konnte. Es gibt keine Time-Slots mehr für The Wake. Man käme mit Wartezeit als Walk-In rein. Man erklärt uns, dass wir bereits für heute Mittag eine Reservierung für The Wake haben und man bietet Brunch an und damit eine Karte von morgens bis mittags. Man erklärt mir aber, dass das "forward" bei "Vegetarian-Forward", dass es doch ein Fleischangebot gibt. Das klingt nach "Beste Freundin - Frauen essen anders" in Darmstadt und das mochte ich auch nicht, als wir mal dort waren. Ich bin aber sehr überrascht. Anscheinend ist das nicht gut erklärt, aber es gibt auch Fleisch im Razzle Dazzle. Als ich ankomme, bitten wir um einen ruhigen Tisch. Das ist etwas nervig: es ist überall laut. Es gibt keine ruhigen Plätze. Die Restaurant Managerin Katja versucht die Lautstärke runterzuregulieren, aber das ist eben ein Charakter des Schiffes: Es ist überall laut und man sollte Ohropax mitführen. Wir bekommen auch einen sehr netten Kellner: Aleksandar. Das Angebot ist überraschend und ungewöhnlich. Als Fleischliebhaber wird man als "naughty" (unartig) bezeichnet. Hier gibt es Salz und Pfeffer am Tisch. Warum ist das im Extra Virgin nicht möglich? Der Melonen-Gurken-Salat ist etwas pikanter, aber sehr lecker und erfrischend. Uns fallen aber die vielen Mitreisenden auf, die hier länger bleiben als wir und die ganze Zeit eine gewisse Auswahl an Alkohol trinken: für 25,00 USD gibt es Bottomless Brunch. Viele nutzen das aus, für diesen Preis soviel zu trinken, wie sie wollen. Für uns eher uninteressant. Sehr teuer: Einen frischgepressten Saft für 7 USD. Sehr lecker: Croissant mit Jalapenos. Mein Frühstück mit den vegetarischen Patties ist in Ordnung, aber ich habe zum Glück noch Hähnchen und Speck bestellt. So ist das Frühstück erträglich und ganz lecker. Das Hühnchen schmeckt besser als bei Kentucky Fried Chicken. Für den letzten Tag bestellen wir daher nochmals einen Tisch hier.

That's not well explained, but there's also meat in the Razzle Dazzle. When I arrived, we asked for a quiet table. That's a bit annoying: it's noisy everywhere. There are no silent places. The restaurant manager Katja tries to turn down the volume, but that's just a character of the ship: It's loud everywhere, and you should bring earplugs. We also get a charming waiter: Aleksandar. The offer is surprising and unusual. Meat lovers are called "naughty". There is salt and pepper at the table here. Why isn't that possible at the Extra Virgin? The melon and cucumber salad are a bit spicier but delicious and refreshing. But we notice the many fellow travelers who stay here longer than us and drink a specific selection of alcohol the whole time: there is Bottomless Brunch for USD 25.00. Many take advantage of this by drinking as much as they want for this price. Rather uninteresting for us. Very expensive: A freshly squeezed juice for 7 USD. Delicious: croissant with jalapenos. My breakfast of the veggie patties was okay, but luckily I ordered the chicken and bacon. So the breakfast is bearable and delicious. The chicken tastes better than Kentucky Fried Chicken. We, therefore, book another table here for the last day.

We're going to see what's in the self-service restaurant. The same applies to breakfast: you can only get something for yourself in a few places. But we now see a map that you can also choose from at your seat. Overall, however, it is interesting to see what is available at which stands. It doesn't always fit with the original kitchen. There is the same thing that there is on other ships, but divided up differently than on other ships. The many pre-packaged boxes are also noticeable. Bruno likes the offer so much that we might try this area tomorrow.

Aber wir sehen jetzt eine Karte, aus der man auch am Platz auswählen kann. Insgesamt ist es jedoch interessant, was es an welchen Ständen gibt. Es passt nicht immer mit der ursprünglichen Küche. Insgesamt gibt es das gleiche, was es auf anderen Schiffen gibt, aber eben anders aufgeteilt, als auf anderen Schiffen. Es fallen auch die vielen vorgepackten Schachteln auf. Bruno gefällt das Angebot so gut, dass wir wohl doch mal diesen Bereich morgen ausprobieren.

The Wake: mangels Hauptrestaurant wohl in einer ähnlichen Funktion. Es ist schön, aber auch entsprechend eng. Auch hier arbeiten sie mit Food-Runner. Wieder hier: Bottomless Brunch, so dass viele hier länger bleiben und noch trinken. Für den hohen Tagessatz, gibt es immer noch keinen kostenlosen Hummer. Nur mit Zuzahlung. Und manches gibt es erst ab 12:00 Uhr. Später sehen wir, dass 80% der Brunch-Karte sich auch in der Abendkarte finden. Schade: man hätte dann noch ein weiteres Restaurant testen können. Von der Qualität und vom Geschmack ist alles sehr gut. Nur bei den Shrimps: die schmecken immer etwas mehlig - egal in welchem Restauarnt man sie hier isst. Serviert wird z. T. so, wie in Zuzahlrestaurants der anderen Gesellschaften. Mein Steak ist himmlisch. Es gibt auch den Pfeffermühlenservice. Allerdings muss man seine Serviette sich selbst rausnehmen. Auf ein Dessert verzichten wir.

I reported to an event that was about the Virgin Voyages brand. However, since it takes place in the shop, I assume it is more of a promotional event for the logo items. They were pretty expensive: 42.00 USD per shirt and the other things are also overpriced — much also from the life of Sir Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin.

Im Shop bekommt man auch die Hängematte von Yellow Leaf, die auf den Balkonen hängen. Es ist doch etwas ungewohnt für uns.

The managers also had no idea whether something was still missing or whether someone still had to be helped. The problem is that you don't listen to special requests: either something is missing, or it's a bit too much. For example, I wanted a hamburger with no fries, but unfortunately, that wasn't possible. There is mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard at the table, but you have to get other sauces at the counter again. Principle: You can't order at the counter, you have to place your order at the table and have it served to you, and if you want special sauces and want to see what else is available, you have to take the tray back to the burger counter. I won't be happy here anymore.



Lt. Tagesprogramm wird das kulinarische Angebot im SB-Restaurant-Teil stark eingeschränkt. Viele öffnen gar nicht zum Dinner. Hier in der Aufstellung sehen wir auch: Das 24-Stunden-Restaurant ist nur ein 22-Stunden-Restaurant. Als ich an der Burger-Theke werde ich weggeschickt. Ich soll mir einen Kellner suchen. In meinem Bereich kommt jedoch kein Kellner vorbei - zumindest in den nächsten 20 Minuten nicht. Solange halte ich mich an das leckere Focaccia-Brot und eine Teigtasche. Danach spreche ich doch mal eine Führungskraft an. Er sagt, dass er mich bemerkt hat, aber dachte, dass mich schon jemand bedient hat. Das war ja auf der AIDAluna 2021 auch nicht anders. Dort hatten ja die Führungskräfte auch keinen Blick dafür, ob noch etwas fehlt oder jemand noch bedient werden muss. Das Problem: so richtig hört man nicht zu, was Sonderwünsche betrifft: entweder es fehlt etwas oder es ist etwas zu viel. Ich wollte beispielsweise nur einen Hamburger ganz ohne Pommes Frites, aber das war leider nicht möglich. Am Tisch stehen Mayonnaise, Ketchup und Senf, aber andere Saucen muss man sich wieder an der Theke holen. Prinzip: Man darf nicht an der Theke bestellen, man muss am Tisch bestellen und es sich servieren lassen, und wenn man besondere Saucen will und mal sehen will, was es noch gibt, muss man mit dem Tablett wieder zurück zur Burger-Theke. Ich werde hier nicht mehr glücklich.

Später gucke ich mir nochmals das Dinner-Angebot an: die Nudelsuppenbar öffnet lt. Tagesprogramm erst wieder um 22:00 Uhr. Der Rest: ein ärmeres Angebot als auf anderen Schiffen abends. An der Salatbar ist nichts los, so dass die Bedienung hinter der Theke laut singt und tanzt. Dafür bekommt sie von mir auch ein paar Mon Cheris.

The tables have to be shared with others, but we are fortunate: our table neighbors are amicable: Ryan, Tiffany, Melanie, and Phil. We also have a lot of fun together with our waiters, Dewi and Tri. They also prepare us right at the table for us. And the whole thing is free of charge unless we want particular types of beef, which costs extra. Mirjana and Anak, who run the restaurant, have a lot of work to do. The evening ends with adult games at the table. You should have just taken part yourself.



Abends geht es dann zum koreanischen Barbeque: Gunbae (Prost auf Koreanisch). Die Tische muss man sich mit anderen Teilen, aber wir haben sehr viel Glück: unsere Tischnachbarn sind sehr nett: Ryan, Tiffany, Melanie und Phil. Wir haben viel Spaß miteinander. Auch mit unseren Kellnern Dewi und Tri. Sie bereiten uns auch direkt am Tisch für uns zu. Und das ganze zuzahlungsfrei, außer wir wollen doch besondere Rindfleischarten haben. Das kostet extra. Mirjana und Anak, die das Restaurant betreuen haben eine ganze Menge Arbeit. Der Abend endet mit Spielchen für Erwachsene am Tisch. Sollte man einfach selbst mal mitgemacht haben.
